Hi Ade, thanks very much.

The tank is from a Slaters' kit, pretty much stock so far, although I'm going to add some extras.

Pipework.  What the hell is that?

I thought you were going to add pipery.

That pipe bridge looks the part. So many people just use those ready-made plastruct pieces, which never look quite right. The time and trouble you've taken to make that has paid off.

Thanks very much all of you for your encouragement.

This evening, I've added the pipework pipage pipery...

A cast iron pipe, with asbestos insulation, I think:

I've tried to formalise the junction of the pipe and the hopper and provide support for the pipe bridge:

It will look better when it's weathered.

This evening, I've started a rockery:

wCawdor-Quarry315.jpg.5084bde26d30cd0a6163a3b2dcf384ee.jpg

Adding various sizes of limestone, from chippings to dust, in a heap at the bottom of the quarry faces.

wCawdor-Quarry316.jpg.bbf459b9ecec728110e20683372e095b.jpg

I must remember to paint and detail the quarry though, a job for this week, maybe.

Also, in gardening related news, I've got fed up of the glaring white expanse of the insulation foam on the top, so I've covered it in grass.

wCawdor-Quarry317.jpg.386000954782e4db82748cce140368dd.jpg

Much more pleasing to the eye - and almost Dover-esque in its contrast!

It also provides a more interesting setting to take photos of the buildings:

Make sure you wash your hands thoroughly when you've finished applying the asbestos!

From personal experience of pipework in/on pipe bridges, there would generally have been some bracketry (real word, yay!)  of some sort to hold the pipe steady against vibration/slippage.

Your modelling is an inspiration!

That warren truss / latticework looks so much more delicate than commercial offerings and both this layout and Ladmanlow Sidings show what is possible with plasticard, micro strip and patience.

Top stuff Al.

The laggage on the pipery is spot on.

Last night and this evening, I did some more welding:

wCawdor-Quarry321.jpg.21748c03afb7a56959b47a683d8a7a7e.jpg

A bit more lattice work, and some supporting trusses:

wCawdor-Quarry322.jpg.dbc274052f4c91927ff89f613fed5f92.jpg

which together make this:

wCawdor-Quarry323.jpg.29952bc7f4682c23b93bb0006be6b944.jpg

and joins up like this:

wCawdor-Quarry325.jpg.cce248f7b7bd3e7c78c577ebabea4c2a.jpg

So, when painted, we get this:

wCawdor-Quarry326.jpg.aff1f8ac68812319bba8c0208132faee.jpg

Or, in somewhere with proper lighting, this:
