juggy0_1
In 1990 I went on a motorbike trip around Europe ,I’m planning on retracing my steps and I need help identifying this location, we travelled down from Lyon so it will have been at the Tournon-sur-Rhòne end of the line, if anyone can remember this loco on a plinth I would be so grateful if they could pin point it.. many thanks Darren
Fat Controller
Looking at 'Viverais Narrow Gauge, by John Organ, the only reference I could find to 0-8-0s were to numbers 22 and 24, built by Corpet for the line between Frot and Troyes. no 22 is described as being on display at a motorway service area on the A7 'near Lyon'. I think this could be the loco in question. However, as to which services it is, I couldn't say; good luck with your quest.
Fat Controller
You'll look in vain for this loco in the Rhone Valley; it's now at the CF de Velay, about 60 km west of Tournon:- https://velay-express.fr/lassociation-2/notre-materiel/ 1
EddieB
Yes, the location at that time for no. 22 was given as autoroute parking for Isardrome (Isere Drome?) near to St-Rambert d’Albon. Edited October 4, 2019 by EddieB
