PenrithBeacon
Last year there was a debate about how to get there by public transport and an Oz RMwebber recommended getting the train to Sidcup from Charing Cross and then the 233 bus to Hilda May Avenue. I was going to use this last year but circumstances intervened and I didn't attend the show anyway. I've re-checked and it seems to be a good route and has the additional advantage for the pensioners in our midst that you can go the entire way free on the Freedom Pass! Seems to be a better option than the M25 on a Saturday.
RMweb Gold tetsudofan Posted October 14, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 14, 2019 Just checked the trains the other way (coming up from the coast) and pleased to see that no engineering works scheduled that day..... Keith
RMweb Premium Nile Posted October 23, 2019 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted October 23, 2019 (edited) An update from my college Richard : The programme can now be downloaded in PDF format from the Expo Narrow Gauge website. ExpoNG_2019 (Visitors will get a free copy with their ticket) One change from my previous exhibitor list is that RT Models is now unable to attend, so their place has been taken by the British Overseas Historical Railway Trust (BOHRT). Lunch - the centre's cafe, as well as an additional 'pop-up' cafe selling sandwiches, snacks and drinks, will be in operation. For those requiring alternative fare, the centre of Swanley is a short walk away. There are two supermarkets, as well as a pub, a bakers, fish and chips and other hot food outlets in the high street. Heating - last year we were hit by a cold spell and the centre's heating was off! I mentioned this at the pre-exhibition meeting and was assured that this year the heating was already on. If arriving by train, leave the station by the rear entrance for the shortest walk to White Oaks. We look forward to seeing you on Saturday. bbishop
By rear entrance Nile means: turn left at the top of the stairs, right at main road, left at church, right into Hilda May Avenue. We may get a bit damp! Sarfeastern Trains regard Swanley as the Zone 6 boundary, so Grumpy passes are valid. Bill
knitpick
When attending, I use Swanley and walk unless we have a car full. Note that only London based pensioners get free train travel; the rest of us have to pay - and bus isn't a viable option from outside London either. Paul_in_Ricky
It seemed a very good show. Lots of excellent layouts, interesting and relevant trade stands, plus enough room to move around easily. It might have helped to have had a few signs to where exactly the hall was in relation to the car park, but that's nit picking really.

I don't even comprehend.
