RMweb Gold MarshLane Posted October 16, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 16, 2019 (edited) Interesting little snippet in tonight's Railway Herald magazine that says the prime mover (the engine) for the first Class 69 - 69001 (formerly a Class 56) - has been delivered from EMD to Stoke and that the project is on target to commence testing in May next year - with the first tests being undertaken on a preserved railway. There are two or three (I believe) going through Stoke, all of which require varying degrees of work, and the one to be numbered 69001, will be the first one that is complete and outshopped, rather than a specific donor, as I understand it - that was the last info that a good source at GBRf gave me. I’m quite reliably informed that even though 56128 is ex Booth’s and heavily stripped, it’s body shell is in very good condition because when it was stored on the Nene Valley Railway prior to being sold on, it was largely kept in the tunnel and free from the elements. 2 Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

Apparently they are fitting PBL brakes to the 69 where the 58 already has them.
