Our next meeting is  Saturday  2nd  November in Rainford  starting  at  1pm.

Venue is the   Corpus Christie Church Hall,  Alfred Street,  Rainford,  Merseyside  WA11 8BY

 

Lots going on with layouts from,

Alan Mountfield,  Steve Lomax,  Jim Hodgkiss,  Tony Ennis,  Colin Oldfield and Keith Naylor with his Kato test track.

The 5.5mm Assoc  Modular Group will be there.

Brian Davis  and  Les Nehlrich  will be manning their show you how stands.

The Sales Tables will have,  Locos, rolling stock, wagon kits plus lots more to spend your hard earned cash.

Ted Stowell will have his  5 inch gauge  De Winton loco and rolling road and you can see Teds superb engineering skills.

Refreshments.

Free Parking.

Come and spend a few hours with like minded NG modellers, play trains, have a brew and a chat.

If Narrow Gauge is your thing, this is the place to be and if you have any stock bring it along and play trains.

WE had a very successful  get  together last  Saturday  with  51 visitors/members coming along.

 

Five layouts to play trains on, along with a couple of show you how stands.

Once again the sales tables were busy.

Visitors are always welcome to come along and move items along on the sales.

 

The buffet was soon snapped up with the Cotthams pies,  M&S sausage rolls   and  homemade cakes, nothing left for the birds  !!

We will have the Sales Tables with all those presents you want to buy yourself.

We meet approx., every  6  weeks and we end a very successful year with this last meeting of  2019.

We have some great plans for  2020, so come and join us and be part of that  journey.

Today  we  can sort the  buffet   for Saturday.

 

Cottams pork pies (local bakery),   M&S  sausage rolls,  mini pies,  honey glazed sausages  and  mince pies.

 

Hopefully our superb cake maker  Mo  has been burning the midnight oil preparing her superb cakes for Saturday.

 

Its not all about  playing trains !!

We held our last get together on the 14th December for 2019 and it turned out an excellent meeting with 49 visitors which included 9 new comers.

Andy Biggs and Don Farnworth both new comers brought along two superb layouts, one in 7mm NG  Bryncrug Sidings  and the other being a Gn15 estate rly.,

with Heywood locos and stock.

Colin Kennington another new one brought along his small Busch Feldbahn layout.

Colin had his 09 layout  and Frank Allen had his radio control demo layout.

Crummack Valley 009 was up and running and a number of guys tried their hand at operating.

The Rainhill lads had their Kato test track running.

There was also a display of the late Roy Hirsts  WW1 stock, which the group are the custodians of the layout and stock.

We had four show you how stands,  making wagon loads,  weathering stock, soldering brass kits and finally scratch building railway buildings etc.

THe sales tables were busy again and the group laid on a buffet which included a homemade Xmas cake.

 

We start 2020  on  Saturday  4th  January  starting at  1pm at   Corpus Christie Church Hall,  Alfred Street,  Rainford  WA11 8BY.

As Stan says above, I attended for the first time and brought my feldbahn layout.  What an enjoyable time, made very welcome, was shown how to solder brass properley and learnt a lot about radio control. Thanks.

The Merseyside & South West Lancs Group is not just about NG modelling.

 

On  Thursday  4th  June  2020  we take over the  West Lancs Light Railway in Tarleton, Lancashire.

We kick off  at  5.30pm

The WW1   Joffre loco built by Kerr Stuart will be the loco in steam on the passenger train.

A couple of diesel locos for driving experience will be in the sidings.

Tour of the  works and sheds.

Cab rides throughout the Evening.

Pie & Peas  washed down by a nice cuppa.

 

A great Evening had by all,  just keep our fingers crossed for the weather.

We held our first get together of  2020 today and  we had  50 people come along, which included  5 new comers.

Lots of playing trains,  show you how stands being busy and lots of chatting and catching up.

The buffet was soon finished off with only a couple of crumbs left.

Ted Stowell brought along a 5 inch gauge  De Winton  loco,  very impressive  !!

THe sales tables kept fairly busy all afternoon.

 

We have our second get together on  Saturday  28th  March at  Corpus Christie Hall  starting at  1pm

 

Before that we will be putting on  North West Narrow Gauge Show  on  Saturday  15th February  show open  10am to  4.30pm

Venue is the  All Saints Parish Hall,  Church Road,  Rainford, Merseyside  WA11 8HE.

After the success of our  North West Narrow Gauge show last  Saturday, time to move on to our groups next get together.

 

Saturday   28th  March  will see us back at  Corpus Christie Church Hall,  Alfred Street,  Rainford  WA11 8BY  starting at  1pm.

 

Usual format,  3 or 4 layouts,  show you how stands  and the  sales tables.

Thursday  Evening   4th  June   sees us at the  West Lancs Light Railway at Hesketh Bank,  Lancashire.

Two engines in steam along with a diesel loco.  Cab rides, workshop tour along with refreshments.

A great evening out, playing with a real  2ft NG  railway.

 

Why not come and join us to any of the above and be part of the largest NG meetings of modellers in the UK.

Due to the ongoing health problems throughout the country, we have decided to cancel our next

get together on  Saturday  28th March.

We hope to hold our next get together on  Saturday  9th May, but will keep everyone updated as

the weeks go on.

This will also apply to any future events the group are involved in.
