Been quiet for a bit on this thread.

On a walk yesterday I saw this one.

Within half a mile of Tollesbury Pier station, though I doubt that it ever went there by rail.

Relatively unusual to still have its underframe - valuable scrap, that was!

This is the Google Street view of my local Conservative Club car park. I suppose when Boris allows us northerners to have a drink somebody will want a better picture.

Strange that given where it is I would have expected it to be painted in Rail Blue.

I saw this at Yelvertoft allotments (Northants). Very tatty but the painted number was still there.

The chap from the parish council responsible for the allotments would like to dispose of the van, if anyone wants it.

Needs a bit of work though.

Sadly this body has bit the dust in the last couple of weeks

Has anyone mentioned the two in the yard at Noyadd (Neuadd?) Hendidley Farm near Newtown, Powys? I spotted them the other day from the footpath which goes past. There is, or a year ago was, one near the road from Abermule to Montgomery.

And on a more positive note the Bishops Castle Railway has one on its site which I believe is being restored to use as a store.

Copped this one last night when James suddenly shouted Banana Van as we were leaving our fishing beat last night. Sorry for poor photo but was 21.00 . Couldnt believe it! Looks to be in remarkable condition too. Cant see it on google earth .... but beware the establishment behind that hedge if you go for a look see!

PICT0006.JPG.1e7fa54f74c45e6bbc14cbf6fdba0ede.JPGI spotted these two vans the other day on a farm near Newtown, Powys, conveniently one with a footpath through the farmyard. They look as though they were originally pretty standard GWR ventilated vans to me. No visible identification, though I didn't go close.

Jonathan

Edit: there were originally two photos but I can't find the other one.

In RMweb3 there was a topic with the above title. The last post in the topic prior to the change-over was a Horsebox of (as yet) unidentified origin. First thoughts were that it was a GWR van, but that was discounted on two points, GWR Horse boxes didn't have a tumble-home side, and had a small extra panel at the end beyond the groom's doorway and window, compared with the photos below:- (taken on a rare day with clear sky and blazing sunshine)

I'm told that "it was there when we bought the house 25 years ago". Any views on it's origin? I have not yet found a picture of a LMS Horse Box.

I think I've found another one, currently being converted for "glamping" on a campsite and with a few extra windows added it seems?

I noted a van body on the back of a low loader in Andover this morning heading in a westerly direction. Didn't look in bad nick really. No number visible, but it had no venting on the ends. A303 shut at the time which is why it may have been in Andover.

Purposely grounded as it’s in the local scrappy, been quite few there over the last year or so, an RES BG by the looks of it

don’t know where it’s come from but looking at the paintwork on it and the container in front and airport truck is say they are from the same place

I then also spotted this lurking in the corner, hopefully put to one side for salvage, a loco tender of some sort
