RMweb Gold Oldddudders Posted October 29, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 29, 2019 21 pin decoders may offer more Functions. For sound-equipped locos that can really matter.

DonnyRailMan
I have been looking at some of the A2s some showing 8 pin & some 21 pin. Two that stand out are Pearl Diver showing to have 21 pin then Blue Peter showing having 8 pin. Why have Bachmann done this .

The 21-pin versions provide the additional functions needed for sound and are therefore likely to be fitted to later models. Almost certainly the Pearl Diver version will have the 21-pin decoder socket in the tender, and 8-pin versions will have the socket in the loco.
