does anybody possibly have either a kitmaster Pug or Dapol pug that is of no further use but has body intact ?

mine has lost several items of bodywork, and i really would like to keep her and restore the body, fleaway wants upwards of £45 plus they only have Hornby versions which are no good to me, and too expensive, i can negotiate on price, but not willing to pay silly money just for a body.....PLEASE HELP IF YOU CAN  :help::senile:

For the RTR body. Try Peters Spares.

https://www.petersspares.com/Hornby-x82378-pug-body-0-4-0-lms-black-gold-lettering-no-11232.ir

Or one without a cab for £4.69

https://www.petersspares.com/Hornby-x8238-pug-body-lms-11232-less-cab-oo-gauge.ir

You should be able to get the Kitmaster/Airfix/Dapol plastic kit for about £7 or £8 new. But they won't fit on the RTR chassis.

If you need a chimney, Wizard now has them back in stock.

If you are after the Airfix/Dapol kit I suggest you search on Google including the word "kit" as that gives you several  options all around the £8.50 mark. I think you are, possibly, confused by the Dapol/Hornby RTR model, hence the higher price.

no i have the Dapol RTR version and the body is damaged

What's the difference between Dapol and Hornby pugs, 'cos I might have a Hornby one?

Do you mean Airfix kit type, not Dapol/Hornby motorised ones?

no Dapol RTR dunno about difference, always assumed if its Dapol it needs a Dapol body

The only difference between the Dapol and Hornby ones are black wheels not shiny ones, if I remember correctly.  I'll try and send you a picture of the body tomorrow.

To try to iron out the confusion about who made what L & Y pugs, Kitmaster originated the plastic construction kit model, which was 'push along' and unpowered.  When KM went under Airfix acquired the toolings and took the model into it's own construction kit range.  This was in turn acquired along with the rest of the Airfix railway construction kit range by Dapol, who have continued to produce this construction kit and have more recently taken to marketing the range under the Kitmaster branding, full circle.  The kit originally sold for 2/-, 10p and now goes for £8.50.

Dapol brought out an RTR L & Y pug back in the 80s, and this model has since been produced by Hornby, who have provided an updated and better performing mechanism and chassis.  AFAIK it is not currently in production by can be found easily on 'Bay; you need to be sure you are getting the updated mech, though.  There is no difference other than the branding between Dapol and early Hornby RTR pugs.

The current (2019) Hornby catalogue shows 2 new releases (BR and LMS) that were due Q1 this year - so may still be available?
