Croesnewydd Diesel
Hi all, hoping someone will point me in the correct direction. I'm after some mid to late 1980's bus adverts for my Crosville Cymru Bristol VR's. Thanks in advance.
pH
Do a Google image search for "Crosville Cymru Bristol VR" and you will see quite a few examples. Some, at least, have dates in the captions. Edited November 11, 2019 by pH

RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted November 11, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 11, 2019 Check out some of the magazines and publications of the period such as Buses Yearbook.
stewartingram
Modelmaster (who now are discontinuing bus transfers) and Fox both do many bus adverts. Stewart 1

fiftyfour fiftyfour
Does anyone know of a supplier of NBC (National Bus Company) fleetnames and logos for the 1970's/early 1980's period? I can print most stuff at home bus white fleetnames on a clear background are not possible!
BernardTPM
Mabex used to do them, if they still around. Edited February 23, 2020 by BernardTPM

They appear to have finished- they were certainly the "go to" back in the 1980's for such things.
crompton 33
I use Mabex or Modelmaster for NBC Logo's or legal Lettering. You can get the NBC logo's on E'bay set of 3 for £3.00 with postage. Just look up model bus transfers. PM me if you want Mabex phone number but they only take cheques . 1

RANGERS
Mabel are still around under the care of Kingfisher Models in Lincs. They don’t have a website but I believe you can access the lists via their Facebook page. 1

Have you got a link as Google just comes up with pictures of busty young women when you type in "Kingfisher Models".

crompton 33
Philj . you beat me to it Some of the Mabex transfers i've had from them in the last year have broken up . The reason might be old stock. They did replace them on my next order but some still broke up when i put them in water. modelldoc
If you have old transfers, use clear colour, like this: https://www.revell.de/en/products/colors-accessories/aqua-colours/aqua-color-clear-matt-18ml.html That's help! modelldoc
fiftyfour fiftyfour
Ok, new/divert topic question... Now that I've seen the Mabex list and established that the NBC fleetnames on the top of page 7 don't include either of the names I seek does anyone have any bright ideas as to how to print your own white transfers onto a clear sheet?!
RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted February 25, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 25, 2020 Most printers do not print white. If you can match the background colour add it in and print on white decal paper.
fiftyfour fiftyfour
And that's the problem, matching a colour on screen to come out of a printer which will still match the colour of the paint on the model! I did wonder if anyone did a white inkjet cartridge which I could swap (temporarily!) for the black one then tell the PC to print black on clear knowing that the black cartridge is actually white...
RMweb Gold john new Posted November 25, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 25, 2021 Did you find your solution? I have just stripped for repainting the EFE Crosville Cymru Bristol VR and scanned the sides including the adverts before doing so - Persil and Radio 5 Live. I can pass the photos on if it helps you make your own transfers.
Mike Harvey
For fleetnames it might be worth talking to George Heaney at Sunrise who have just taken over the former Model Bus Company range of transfers. Sunrise Models and Transfers: kits and waterslide transfers (sunrisetransfers.com) That's good news. I always preferred the MBC transfers for the NBC logos and fleetnames compared to Modelmaster.
fodenway
There used to be a machine called the ALPS printer which could print white, silver, gold and the full spectrum of colours, but they are now obsolete and the consumables for them are very hard to find. Silk-screen printing is used commercially for light colours, but is not really cost-effective for the home user, although there are companies who will produce your designs to order. One such is BLACK SQUARE DECALS, I have used them several times and the transfers are of excellent quality and reasonably priced.
