I will drop in from time to time as I won't be able to keep up. The 'big project' sounds very interesting - my old club (Ilkeston) used to have a fabulous MPD layout based 1948-68 with lots of lovely steam and electrics, it was gorgeous! John. Hi John, Hope you and Bev are well mate. I'm now almost looking forward to the move and starting the big project as I do like Rural Countryside Scenics.
Andrew P
An earlyish start this morning saw the Points modified and wired ready for fitting for power feeds and the Gaugemaster DCC80 Autofrogs. Using my normal format of Black to the Back, NOTE = NOT Red to the Rear, haha. 8
Andrew P
Next up was a trip over to Tutbury Models to pick up some Peco Platform edging and another Large Right Hand Point, and a Berko Colour Light Signal for the left Platform end, (the right hand one will be imaginary as it will be under the Fiddle Yard at that end). Then after coffee the edging was modified and fitted along with the Point in the Fiddle Yard. Then finally checked for smooth alignment. Andrew P
A couple of Hours in TOPS before Lunch and some people looking at the Bungalow. But I did manage to get all the Pointwork laid and the Sidings. Just the Steel works to do next week now, then I can start to wire it all up.
woodenhead
Careful Andy, you don't want to finish it too quick, it's almost ready for sale, could have thrown it in with the house as a sweetener.

Hmmm. Dorset? - Corfe Castle and the Swanage - our second home - plenty of excuses for a Green Crompton fest. Ian

Dorset? - Corfe Castle and the Swanage - our second home - plenty of excuses for a Green Crompton fest. Ian I'd like to visit Corfe Castle one day, it's a place I've never been to. I have been down to Swanage many years ago, (about 1981/82 ish I think) and it wasn't running for some reason, but loads of great atmosphere in the place, so definitely need another visit and a run on the Train maybe. It will still be quite a journey there from the Portsmouth area so I'll be spending a lot of time at the Mid Hants which is only about 25 minutes up the road, after the move I hope.

muddy water
Great start/finish! Interested to see what you are doing with the sector plate fiddle yard on the left hand side. The original plan has 4 yard lines and 1 for the dmu platform line. From the photos you appear to have dropped 1 yard line and if both exits from the yard have storage tracks you then lose the dmu line. Have other people used sector/ traverser plates with two different angles exits and how have they limited operations? I am sure if I wait a week, there will be a full video showing exactly how it works very efficiently!

Hi Muddy, Yes your right, 5 was a bit tight to get the fat fingers between to rail / re rail Stock. The back one is strait and just for the DMU's and the front 3 are angled for the Freight, I'll show more pics of that once laid properly and working. I've used Swivelling Sector Plates on quite a few Layouts with not to many issues.

Muddy, The curve off the Fiddle Yard was to tight for the Kadee Couplings so it has not only been altered there, but also now 3 of the 4 Track also line up with DMU Line, so that will give more operational scope such as light Engine through the Station or a Loco and one Wagon for example.
Andrew P
So then I decided to have a push test, (no power to the Track as yet) Firstly the Empty Steels comes in from Washwood Heath Yard hauled by 66022 Lafarge Charnwood. Up to the Head Shunt. Then backs it's Wagons into the Steelworks Complex, and Shed. The Loco then Runs off Light Engine. And Stables in the back road with 66068. 16 1
