Norton961
I am a big fan of Ultrascale loco wheels but am having problems getting paint to stay on the front of the tyres. Paint just does not stick. I have head that there is a chemical way of darkening the tyre rim, does anybody know what this is and where do I get some from. thanks David
RMweb Gold Enterprisingwestern Posted November 16, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 16, 2019 The only way to blacken Ultrascale wheels is to use an Edding marker pen (the number of which I can't recall). This is the only way the manufacturer guarantees satisfaction. Mike.
RMweb Gold ianLMS Posted November 20, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 20, 2019 You could try blackening solutions from Birchwood Casey or Carrs. They do Brass Black and Aluminium Black and Steel Blue. I know the Birchwood stuff works well on the sides of Alan Gibson and Markits/Romford wheels, just not sure if Ultrascale are made from similar metals. Failing that, a black Sharpie might work as well. https://eileensemporium.com/index.php?option=com_hikashop&ctrl=product&task=show&cid=280&name=birchwood-casey-brass-black-90ml&Itemid=189 Ian
