Taking a pause today to run a few trains, as I need a break from painting / sticking myself together with glue. 60007 awaits a light engine move , to operate Banford - immingham empty steel. First 66 in the fueller ( still not quite finished , awaiting drain pipes , roof vents etc ), and this bit of plastic is a labour of love as I’m handscribing bricks to make the building that sat at one end of bescots main shed . Looking good once again Rob
rob D2
Furlough means progress is quicker than normal....also means I ha e to watch the cash as I’m on 30% salary for April ...but I’ll still build bits to build as otherwise I’d go nuts . ive completed the little building for the shed end , I’ve taken delivery of a Bachmann water tower ( actually seems to be the bescot one ) and I’ve built and kit bashed a knightwing crane which, again, is very similar to the bescot version ( 1990s onwards period ), altering the actual lift device a bit. today I painted and weathered the hardstandings . 10

rob D2
Furloughed now for two months , so still loads of time. And in actual fact the company has told me they are deleting my email account on weds - so I guess that’s it ....! anyway , I’ve been working on details and oily patches for the fueller. And building the single lane shed - you may recognise what it’s based on. For the sake of £30 of plastic I’d rather have a bash at scratchbuild than buy in. It’s Ming on , needs roof vents, drainpipes etc and of course some colouring .... 10

rob D2
After four years of having, and not using it , finally got the airbrush out for a go. quick practice and straight into GUVs and a 31 as well as a VDA. It’s only framedirt at this point , but I think anything is better than black pristine plastic . 10

rob D2
Since I got the airbrush out, I’ve played with little else, I really like messing with it - although it brings home to me how good some of the weathering is on RMweb - it’s not easy to avoid block colours when you are using, er, three colours... I’ll call it “ Aldi weathering “ Anyway here’s a picture of how it’s going ,

rob D2
So this week was a build rather than rolling stock week. i wasn’t happy with how the shed looked, the low relief bit didn’t work and putting my finger in the issue - the facilities were too grand for a one road shed ! so I moved the shed up the line and got rid of the low relief bit. I’m working on the ballast and fuel tanks still - I had an idea that this was an old single line steam shed or yard and in 1980 it was rebuilt with this single shed - a bit like Carmarthen or the one at Exeter. that leaves me space behind to mess about with what was once the “ full loads depot “. I’ve built a small fuel shed More in fitting with the reduced status of Banford ....I may have to get rid of the girder bridge for something More modest as well as that was from my original west London idea, and a bit out of place here. The two kick back sidings ( note their will be a backscene between them and the fiddle ) will utilise the old fuel lean to as an unloading facility which will be rebuilt from the low relief shed. I’m making some rowntrees white roofed VDAs so I can deliver chocolate ....what a combo trains and rolos ! next week I am possibly back to stock as I now have the slightly large TOPs numbers for 31413 and the paint on its way to redo the white stripe on the off side ( dual identity 31304 ) and the ETH fittings ready to be glued on when I get the nerve up.... the frantic pace ( for me ) continues as I’m fairly convinced my job has gone at the end of this virus and I’ll end up in the Far East most likely .
rob D2
I’m pleased with how this bit is developing. The newish depot, with older general freight depot behind and lots of different grades of road surface. Need to source some coping stones for the fuel bund and brick wall - any ideas ? Now I’ll switch from the layout to the stock for a week or so - I have white stripe 31413 to decal, and , er, white stripe...and the paint required to make some rowntrees VDAs to bring some chocolate traffic in - that’ll probably got to the newer distribution depot up the other end .
SparxD428
It's looking good Rob. I like the pipework from the tanks. Looking forward to seeing 31413 when she's done too. Cheers, Stu 1
rob D2
What’s that lurking at the old freight depot ? OOC must have let it loose on the Acton - Banford speedlink !

rob D2
Work continues, adding detail to the factory end.....because of the multi era approach I need to be able to swap out the 1982 style freight building and replace it with modern industry and palisade fencing so I’ve made some knightwing fencing up on removable strips of plasticard and am building a peco modern industrial unit to take the place of the demolished small freight facility . I am hoping Peco can supply some more of those roof vents as they’d be ideal for the TMD as posed... rolling stock wise - Dutch 37 is changing number , and I need to strip and redo this 47 below. Halfords white primer seems a bit grainy compared with the grey and it’s got too much texture ....so back to drawing board......I already have the plates and numbers ready for this, but it’s my first full respray so will take time. rob D2
So one of the units is a wine importer.... this is based on a company I had some dealings with on an industrial estate in west London . You can just see the bottles .
