rob D2
Hope you are all enjoying the Christmas season ! I’ve over enjoyed it - since reaching my target weight a week back, I’ve put on about 9lbs......” chocdown lockdown “ tomorrow ! Didn ‘ t ask for much model stuff for xmas - got this Hattons warwell , which a nice wagon, although they only had the weathered one , and TBH the weathering is sh1t, quite literally in colour. I’ve never seen a warwell that you couldn’t see the green colour at all. It’s like the Bachmann man has a had a few beers and been let loose.... anyway, the other question is how much mods for my period - could need new data panel, warning flashes, extra metal strengthening plate and girders for warwell cradle.... also got the s&s models Spartan kit to give it a load , I like building these little kits . reading wise - the much praised engineers wagon bookazine and Gary Numans autobiography ...
Gypsy
If you wanted a Spartan, I'd get a refund. That's an FV432. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Yeah ; Spartan is unbuilt one in packet, 432 was placed just to see what the wagon looked like loaded

rob D2
Still going.... brought some cheap horses off dorspring models on eBay, about £3.50 for five, but you have to paint them of course . got an S&S models Sultan AFV that I am making for the Hattons warwell. the warwell is being forward dated , as it was in early 90s guise and smothered with Hattons factory weathering which looks like pig poo. In reality a lot of the details were kept quite clean so I’ve picked out the white, yellow , red bits in the bogies, as well as painting the ends yellow. I have a new data panel to change KWB to KWA. other end of layout is being worked on, it’s very narrow so backscene is photos ( of companies near the M6 at Bescot ) and an attempt at making flat foliage look like trees. Almost works !

rob D2
So the Banford - Ashchurch train is basically finished, barring chocks and tie downs for the vehicles . 2 x Genesis war flats with S&S models Scimitars and FV432s, a Hattons touched up warwell with S&as models Sultan. Transrail branded VGA for all those tie downs to go in that I haven’t got . I can mix it up a bit with some more VGAs, VBA, or OCAs with land rovers in that I have . eventually I’d like to do a warwell with cradle and warrior AFV.
rob D2
Banford is about 75% complete now, the furthest I’ve got with any layout since starting over in 2001 ! I need some more cameos and a few bits to be finished off including the “ unloading sidings “. I've been adding more moss to those as per photos I’ve seen of the area around bescot TMD. I’ve weathered and toned down the toylike leibherr 974, including painting the hinges yellow and giving the bucket a rusty colour overplayed with black pastel ( sidings are for coal delivery for supposed cement works ). Ive built one yard office , and painted it EWS red - as per my lack of any action is closed up with the shutters across !
rob D2
I’m thinking of improving the digger with some surgery to add a clam shell bucket loady thing as would be used in reality and I’ve got some 0.5mm wire to make hydraulic runs - we’ll see if my enthusiasm wins or my can’t be arsed nature kicks in ! View under the bridge is probably my favourite angle. Thoughts are already turning to the next plank which will be “ West Country “, I want water , bridges, cream teas ....and sheds again.... rob D2
Well, this is more or less complete, barring extra detail and cameos. 2 years three months from getting the baseboards it has taken. final bit of work to the weedy sidings was undertaken , and a bit more concrete path at entrance to shed .
rob D2
Thoughts turn to the future now, maybe in 2022 I’ll do another plank , learning from what I’ve done here, I’d want more scenics, more levels and less track. And somewhere to run these maybe ?
rob D2
So with the model almost as complete as it will probably get, thoughts turn to more stock. I’ve had this old Hornby OAA for years - I seem to recall buying three for £15 at warley. I’ve made it a bit more 2001 , with patch painting the planks, new wheels, silver Oleos. It’ll be used for carrying redundant sleepers to be unloaded at Banford. I’d like a new data panel but the cost may be prohibitive for one side of one wagon. soon the airbrush will be back in the garage and I can do some more weathering as it warms up,

There are still a few older wagons knocking about now, saw a couple at Eastleigh last time I went. It looks good. I like the sound of your new plank idea too.. 1
rob D2
Greetings, we are still here. I’ve been concentrating on the RES fleet recently, weathering the parcels stock. I’ve also taken delivery of a Bachmann 47832 body, this will become the colourful 47528. That almost completes the “ duffs “ I need. RFD, RES, LL, intercity, mainline and Dutch, railfreight grey still waiting for the weather to be warm enough for airbrushing to try and make 47016. I’m considering a slight extension to make it an L shape, see options below , green or red or both maybe . I can’t quite make it in to a U shape as other side of room is needed for a bed for when my mum comes to stay, and anyway I don’t need a depot that big ! Cheers for now ! 4

rob D2
Still a few projects on the go - I do regularly shunt the layout as a form of therapy ! Thoughts turn to a potential replacement as this is now three years old - I'll probably try and flog it eventually . so the saga of 47016 respray continues - crappy airbrush made the gloss varnish for the decals a bit splattery - I can't quite face the fox fan trail decals just yet so this languishes . brought another RFD body to renumber so I have one in the later and one newer - identity still to be decided but numbers have been removed along with arrows 47xxx made a weedy clam from a park side kit that doesn't get used as I have plenty of the Hornby version . finally respraying a VDA into RFD military green - this has been bauxite , then all white rowntrees, now just needs the green and decals . I don't tend to buy stock - just keep recycling it as the period I model shifts left and right a bit cheers all Weedy clam 47016 8
