Subscribers should have priority for distribution.

Paul

But that is not what happens with MRJ.

It tends to come out a few days before some of the major exhibitions.

I have several times seen it available on the stand before I have received my subscription copy.

I take the view that making it available to casual punters is more important than posting me a copy.

I treat my subscription as a helping hand to keep the magazine running.

In Smiffs today at Manchester Piccadilly. Looks like Christmas is back on!

The lack of MRJs is surely this country's biggest crisis since the Second World War.

Come on Corbyn, Johnson and Swinson - add 'my government will ensure that copies of MRJ arrive in WHSmiths on time' to your manifestos. It's sure to be a vote winner!

I was actual starting to think it was delayed due to the purdah period......

Re: upper photo on page 288 - "... We have yet to discover the purpose of the frame in the foreground."

Does anyone else think it is to support one end of the plank which is leaning against the side of the coal store?

Why this would be useful, I have no idea.  It just looks like it fits together that way.

An interesting point. Unlike another suggestion, I suspect that it wouldn’t be used for coaling the locos as it’s easy enough to shovel the coal from the store into the bunker or onto the footplate floor by hand.

However, I wonder whether it was used when filling the coal store, when you want to move a larger amount of coal in one go. Park your wagon outside the store, put your plank across on which you sit a wheelbarrow. Filling the wheelbarrow and running it straight into the coal store would be far easier than shoveling directly up and across from the wagon.

Now off to look up the Furzebrook book as I’d not spotted that feature before.

"wasn’t paying attention" re Newton Heath (and now typos also corrected)

Alas, no, simply a good forgettory.

I am glad to see a useful quota of sheep appearing. How about some Kerry Hill to really make my Christmas? Too early yet for lambs.

Service back to normal tomorrow I assume.

Finally obtained a copy, but apart from admiring the cover, I won't be able to Explore the Interior as I've family coming this afternoon, and I won't be free of them until Monday.

Despite the UK being cut off due to the weather this week, MRJ has arrived on Fraggle Rock.   Having read a lot of the comment on here I was a bit 'nothing for me here', but the truth is I think its a cracking issue, with a lot of inspirational modelling (way beyond my skill level, but it keeps me going).

Now what's this about lamp posts in South Shields?  Leant against a few in my formative years!
