TrainzBrainz23
Was any engine ever numbered 60540 in the BR days? I have checked the BR loco database and no results come up.
Aire Head
Not as far as I am aware. 60450 would be either a class 60 (numbers didn't go that high) Or an Ex LNER loco. BR added 60000 to the existing number in the LNER fleet and 450 wasn't used for any LNER oco at this time. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_LNER_locomotives_as_of_31_December_1947
EddieB
Had there been another Peppercorn A2 then it might have become 60540, as the class series ended at 60539.
TrainzBrainz23
Ok, thank you, I plan on using for a fictional modified/rebuilt A1. Also, I have another question. Was the number 4469 ever used again after the destruction of the A4 that carried it? Edited November 26, 2019 by TrainzBrainz23

The 605xx A2s seem to have been a collection of different developments of the LNER Pacific theme under Thompson and then Peppercorn. 60539, for example, carried a double chimney. Tread carefully here, I suggest.
Steamport Southport
I'm pretty sure if they built more A1s they would have followed the last A1. Which is the number they used for 60163 Tornado. So if you are thinking of using an A1 number maybe one of the unused ones in the 60164 upwards series. 4469 was reused for a J35 when the LNER renumbered their locomotives in 1946. Previously they were very random. http://brdatabase.info/locoqry.php?action=class&id=601035&type=S&page=fleet Jason
Darryl Tooley
4469 was briefly carried by a J35 for the latter half of 1946, the engine then being withdrawn. Under the Thompson renumbering scheme the lowest numbers went to 6'8" pacifics. 500 onwards went to 6'2" pacifics. D
