bkk-bkk
Does anyone have a list of specialist spares dealers? I remember East Kent Models used to specialise in Hornby spares, but I believe they have closed down. Examples of what I'm currently looking for are modern era OO gauge wagon bogie frames (Bachmann, Hornby, Dapol, Heljan). Also Bachmann Class 70 bogie frames, Vi-Trains class 37 & 47 pick-ups, Bachmann IFA bogie centralising springs, etc, etc. Any help will be much appreciated. My apologies to all if this already exists and I have managed to miss it. Butler Henderson
Heljan spares are available from Howes https://howesmodels.co.uk/product-category/model-railway/Heljan-uk/ Dapol spares are available from Dcc Supplies https://www.dccsupplies.com/cl-744/Dapol-spares.htm Peters Spares are usually expensive in comparison to other suppliers on Hornby parts - do google and ebay searches using the part number and include the required postage payment in any price comparisons. Peter's Spares usually have Hornby Spares Vi-Trains you used to be able to ring them up on the phone for spare parts, don't think they exist anymore as they haven't released a model in 10 years or so. Their website is no longer online either so only hope is to find someone selling some used ones on the likes of ebay. Bachmann spare parts you can contact Bachmann service department via their website for spares, can only pay over the phone or via cheque for Bachmann Spares. Very backwards thinking in this day and age I know. Bachmann will not provide complete chassis units. Heljan and Dapol I have no clue but I'd suspect there would be a section on each of their websites for contacting them about spare parts. Bachmann do accept online payments, usually via Paypal if I can remember?
RMweb Gold Phil Bullock Posted December 12, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 12, 2019 Had the reverse experience with Bachmann - always extremely helpful and payment by phone not a problem for me - and yes I do work! You do need to be very specific and identify the Bachmann model number - my latest experience - messaged on website Monday, paid them Tuesday, ordered Class 47 fuel tanks arrived today. Could not have worked better...

Bachmann haven't taken online payment since their new financial manager came in, very backwards practice to accept the most outdated payment methods possible and only really plays in to the hands of those who are retired. Nobody I know has a cheque book anymore and you can only call them between 9 and 4, which are the hours most people work. They've made it as difficult as possible to get spare parts off them. The stuff I ordered over the summer was a pain to get because they would only accept cheques and payment over the phone. And then they sent the wrong items and in total it took about 5 weeks to get a single front bogie that they charged an extortionate amount for. The result is I've decided never to buy any Bachmann products ever again. It's been a while since I've ordered spares, so yes that is a backward step, not the end of the world though
