RBC
Just back in the hobby after a number of years and looking to purchase a hand held mini rotary drill for minor jobs. Don't want to pay a fortune since I don't see myself using to many times, more of a good to have. Any advice, variable speed, rechargeable etc, any recommended make ? Any info appreciated. Tony Cane
For value for money this will take some beating https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Professional-Electric-Manicure-Pedicure-False-Nail-Art-File-Drill-Tool-UK-Plug/383301019064?_trkparms=aid%3D555018%26algo%3DPL.SIM%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20131003132420%26meid%3Deead504525d04952b657f75149cd8fbe%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D12%26mehot%3Dag%26sd%3D172957050238%26itm%3D383301019064%26pmt%3D1%26noa%3D0%26pg%3D2047675&_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851 I have one as well as a "proper" Dremel. This has variable speed control and is man enough to cut OO rail for example. The lower power means it is not as quick as a Dremel, but the small size makes very useful. RMweb Gold Happy Hippo Posted December 13, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 13, 2019 I usually wait until Aldi have one of their rotary tool sets from their Workzone range in stock. They do both corded and cordless versions, but you have to be quick off the mark as they sell out very quickly. Keep an eye out for their DIY special buys on their Website. Similarly, I use and recommend the Lidl cordless variant. Mike.
cypherman
Hi all, Like Tony Cane I have a proper Dremel, But I also have one of these. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Amtech-V2560-Rulers-Measuring-Transparent-Size/dp/B0012XFGVC/ref=sr_1_6?adgrpid=51981171983&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI4NvEme2y5gIVAbDtCh1IkAu8EAAYASAAEgI-qfD_BwE&hvadid=259083097916&hvdev=c&hvlocphy=9045242&hvnetw=s&hvpos=1t1&hvqmt=e&hvrand=871359592556941918&hvtargid=aud-614677023298%3Akwd-294925161573&hydadcr=28149_1724799&keywords=mini+drill+set&qid=1576247965&sr=8-6 Very cheap and cheerful. Not as good as the Dremal, But what can you expect for something this price. As they say it does what it says on the tin very adequately.
