Gw Models Rail bender

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Does anybody have a GW Models 6" rail bender ? A few questions if anybody can help me :-

a) What rail sizes will it work with ?

b) Does it work with BH and FB rail ? I really need it for FB rail.

c) Does it keep the rail from twisting when bending ?

The latest price list from GW I can find on here lists it at £55 plus £7 postage - anybody know if this is still correct ?

Thanks

Rob

No, he does advertise a rail bender (6" roller and rail bender), but it seems to be designed for 00/EM/P4 etc finescale rails. No idea whether it will work with other scales.

What scale rail are you looking at bending? There are others, especially for the larger scales.

I've not tried it, but would a luthiers fret bender work?

eg.

They are cheaper, have the required grooved rollers and are designed to give large, smooth radius bends. I have one (of a different make) but no loose track to test it with.

If it doesn't, the worst you'd lose is the return postage....

I suspect it it would depend on whether you can keep the rail straight in the roller grooves.
