Would love to attend but travel is a problem. I only live in Wigan but I would have to catch 3 buses for a 2 hour journey. Is there anyone in the Wigan area that could give me a lift in exchange for a contribution to fuel costs?

Got bus times wrong!

Allan,

Rainford is about  9 miles from Wigan, so I suspect there must be a long waiting time between buses for it to be 2 hour journey.

You could use the train, either Wigan to St Helens and just round the corner is the bus to Rainford or you could use the train from Wigan to Liverpool,

this stops at Rainford Junction which is about a mile- 1 1/4 miles from the venue.

There is a bus service from Rainford Junction into the village, but I do not know whether it is timed to all trains.

We also have a number of members who live in and around Wigan, so maybe if you send me a pm I could ask around for you with a lift.

There are some brilliant layouts and there will be loads of goodies for you to spend money.

I would have to leave home at 07:25 and arrive at the hall at 09:55. As you say it involves a couple of sessions of hanging at Wigan bus station and Ashton in Makerfield. I will must probably give it a miss rather than spend around 5 hours travelling to and from the event

Two reasons not to miss North West NG  in Rainford on the  15th February.

Paul Windle will have a display of his superb scratch built locos in 009 and will be taking orders, so a chance for you to have one built by Paul in your loco roster.

There will be a number of Pauls locos running on some of the layouts during the day.

We also hope to have Nick Welch with us and he will have on display his Ffestiniog Holiday Book.

Nick is well known for his superb Ffestiniog Layout in 009 which was based around the 1930s and also his number of books on the subject.

Come along to the show that gives you the Very Best in Narrow Gauge Modelling.
