Allan Boyd
Would love to attend but travel is a problem. I only live in Wigan but I would have to catch 3 buses for a 2 hour journey. Is there anyone in the Wigan area that could give me a lift in exchange for a contribution to fuel costs? Edited January 22, 2020 by Allan Boyd Got bus times wrong!
stan williams
Allan, Rainford is about 9 miles from Wigan, so I suspect there must be a long waiting time between buses for it to be 2 hour journey. You could use the train, either Wigan to St Helens and just round the corner is the bus to Rainford or you could use the train from Wigan to Liverpool, this stops at Rainford Junction which is about a mile- 1 1/4 miles from the venue. There is a bus service from Rainford Junction into the village, but I do not know whether it is timed to all trains. We also have a number of members who live in and around Wigan, so maybe if you send me a pm I could ask around for you with a lift. There are some brilliant layouts and there will be loads of goodies for you to spend money. Stan.
Allan Boyd
I would have to leave home at 07:25 and arrive at the hall at 09:55. As you say it involves a couple of sessions of hanging at Wigan bus station and Ashton in Makerfield. I will must probably give it a miss rather than spend around 5 hours travelling to and from the event Edited January 23, 2020 by Allan Boyd
