MRC_Jacob
This is my new topic for what will be Redwater Train Care Depot. Redwater Train care depot will be a home to the First Great Western and Great Western Railway "West Fleet" from the past, present and I'm sure the future too! The "West Fleet" for First Great Western / Great Western Railways is basically what Wessex trains was formerly. The fleet comprises of the Class 150/0, 150/1, 150/2, 153, 158/7, 158/9, 143 and now HSTs which is what will be seen on this depot layout. Below are some pictures of the start of construction. Unfortunately I haven't got the skill for this kind of work so it's being done for me by a Mr Marcus Lambert with layouts like Gowerton Parkway, Bradwell Point and Talbot Lane TMD so I know it's in good hands. I'll be the one filling it with rolling stock and showing it off to the world! I'll keep you as well updated as I can!
RMweb Premium Banger Blue Posted December 23, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 23, 2019 The GWR West Fleet now also includes the Turbos (some 2 car 165s and for the moment all but one of the 166 3 cars.)

Thanks for the comment, indeed they do but not in my area of the Uk Jacob
MRC_Jacob
With thanks to Marcus for sending these. A few photos show casing the size of the DMU sidings and even the sort of things you can expect to see in them (In mostly different liveries though!) Power has been hooked up to the tracks and a point motor installed. Progress!! Edited April 19, 2020 by MRC_Jacob
MRC_Jacob
Track weathered and a back scene painted up!
MRC_Jacob
Another update for the new layout - Marcus has been working on it the past few days and has made progress in leaps and bounds! So, we have track weathered, ground cover placed and even some greenery down! A small embankment in the foreground giving the front of the layout a small amount of height, just for something to look at! The final few pictures show the depot lite up with the LED lights from above. Enjoy!
Andrew Cockburn
I like the look of this, it will be interesting to see how it further develops. 1

MRC_Jacob
More progress on the layout from Marcus. We've got a bridge structure in, shrubbery of all colours and some nice details like fences, signs and lighting!

RMweb Gold Sweet pea Posted November 2, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 2, 2020 The static grass and foliage does start to bring the layout to life.

MRC_Jacob
That is that. The new depot is home and is in full use! 158763, 143603 and 153370 the first units from the FGW West Fleet to be based at the depot.
MRC_Jacob
Just cause we're a little DMU depot doesn't mean the big boys don't come to play! 43179 & 43040 on depot this morning, came in from Landore in the early hours.
MRC_Jacob
So the new depot is up and running with the exception of the flood lights, they're still awaiting the power supply to turn up. The depot has it's two roads, road 1 (closest to the warehouses) and road 2 with the Wheel Lathe road being the closest to the viewer. The wheel lathe was a great excuse to be able to run all sorts of locos onto the layout and still get away with it! 10

MRC_Jacob
A few more shots of the depot, quite on the posting front as there's only so many photos you can get of the same depot without boring anyone!
