Do Class 43 power cars have sandboxes? 

There is a box with chamfered ends located just behind the compressor and in front of the No2 fuel tank which seems to run the full width of the power car and I was wondering whether this was a sandbox. 

For clarity, it is coloured bright green on my 1/43rd scale 3D construction screen shot:

HSTs do not have sanding equipment

Thank you - I wonder if the box is a feeder for the Varley priming pump adjacent to it on the car's B side.

The chamfered edge box to which you refer is the attractively-named sludge tank. It's job is to collect detrius from the engine bed plate and then leak it onto the track.....

It is the bed plate collector and drain, although not to be left open to drain on the tracks. Next to it is the air compressor.

Thank you Seraphim & Davexoc - The model proceeds apace - and significant chunks of it should be printed and present at both the CMRA Stevenage and Bristol  0gauge shows in January.
