Would it have been 2 + 1 seating?

The first of those pictures is of the interior of a TU dining car - so yes it had 2+1 seating. The second is of a Trailer Brake First again 2+1 seating.

Second class vehicles were 2+2.

Break glass windows provided for emergency presumably?

Hammers to break windows were behind pull-off covers in each coach - no 'special' escape windows like some modern trains have.

But it's almost the same as a Voyager or a Pendelino, and for the same reason.

If the body tilts it has to be that shape or you'd smite the bridges and signals etc.

Or of course you could modify the bridges and signal so they slope away from track ... after all they were prepared to raise a lot of them when they put the overhead wires in.

Hi Michael,

Or just build a complete new railway which would probably be an awful lot easier.

Gibbo.

Yup, if you are going to do civil engineering work, straightening the track is a better use of money than widening existing bridges.

And the first time I used a Pendelino that’s exactly the impression I got…..oh…aircraft fuselage.

The bridges will gradually wear away and rubber signals would be fine

what a bloody waste.....public sector both then and now have too much money, they think nothing of tossing things away or scraping things because right now its not vogue or takes too much out of a budget, its all about the now, not the 10-20 years down the line.

maybe we should scrap democracy :offtopic:

There speaks someone who probably wouldn’t last a week in the public sector……!

In the last day or so we enquired about the prospective release dates for these models, we've been told September for all of the variants (5/7 car and coaches).

HTH :-)

Dan answered the question by checking with Hornby, the ‘coming soon’ section is known to be inaccurate and a reliable retailer has already gone to the trouble of asking so I’d go with that.

As above from a retailer asking because of your previous post.

To be fair, there have been contradictory messages about the 5/7 car sets if you read back a couple of pages.

Keeping an open mind for now and fingers crossed for July fulfilment (at least for those orders placed direct with the Hornby website which is still showing a July delivery).

That’s why Dan rang Hornby, in response to the first post about July. It looks like someone gave out the July info at Hornby but Dan’s is the latest official response and just read the amount of changes on the coming soon list in other threads on the W1’s and Pecketts. It’s a pretty pointless list recently as the dates are bouncing around like an accident in a rubber ball factory.

At least it looks like it will be comming out in the correct order . The 5 and 7 train pack first and add on coachs later.

Not exactly. If you read the post from Derails, the latest is all packs are due in September.  Personally my guess is that the way things are going i wouldnt be surprised if that slips again into october or november.
