open to suggestions but Network Rail is currently favourite. Everyone loves a yellow train. However I dont, it sucks.

RTC Red and blue, no contest.

That'd be Lab 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30........... etc. :D

Has anyone else suffered "tilt failure" yet.

Very prototypical, looking at many of the pics of P-Train in service. Adjust R34 on the Tilt Control module.

Ah, Hornby won't have included that of course. :D

Received mine from TMC this morning. Capacitors an obvious miss but I imagine this group of people will find a way to sort. Corridor gap a little large but again there are likely options to to lessen the gap (although I note wider corridors than many coaches may make this a bit harder). Aside from this I am reasonably impressed. Colour and paint finish looks great to me. Fit looks good and no apparent fragile parts. I mentioned I'd check for one of the other forum members whether the coach heights are consistent (all 8 appear consistent to me).

Big caveat for me right now is that I've recently moved house and a new layout is still a way away (with all the other DIY that needs to get done first), so not yet in a position to get these on track. Wonder what will come first? Layout or all my delayed orders?

Temporarily set some of my coach sets up to see how they look and to test the lighting. Has anyone else suffered "tilt failure" yet. Not looked into why it's not sitting right, but I dread to think.

Further to my apparent tilt problem, as someone else noticed different coach levels, I discovered this bogie on my TU set. Not straight at all!

I would look at loosening the screws that hold it together and see if the components reseat themselves. I think one of mine may be the same.

I was just thinking that very same thing - very prototypical indeed!!

That's one of the main reasons the original never really succeeded.

Hardly, your normal APT-P passenger wouldn't have noticed small tilt variances like that, only around a degree or so looking at the model pics. Hard over, 9 degree failures, yes, but they weren't that common, even in the early running days.

About to email Hornby to arrange a fix or return, as the bogie alignments are all over the place, not just for horizontal alignment but vertical alignment too. Between me and my Dad we have two sets of the coach packs as we are having 2 14-car sets eventually. Very disappointed and makes me worried for our 7-car sets later.

Those look like the ends haven’t been fixed together, that top plate is clearly not fixed down causing the bend.
They should just clip into this clip here.

Your one here can’t be clipped in at all as the plate is clear of the clip. See if they will clip down and straighten up. It’s poor assembly control but they may be ok if it hasn’t already deformed.

Indeed, I've just had a look at our four packs, all ok it seems.

In worse news, the Hornby website is now saying winter 2022 for the seven car set!  Plus our Hornby rep has assured us that one of the power cars is a dummy, so we may have a wait to see if one can shift 14 cars.

Their dates are a work of fiction with some saying winter 22 for 21/22 and others showing evidently for 22/23!

It’s still in the coming soon list for January 22 in the case of the 7 car set.

It's been saying that for a while now, hasn't it?

The "coming soon" page currently has the 5 car set due in December 2021 and the 7 car set in January 2022: https://uk.Hornby.com/catalogue/coming-soon?winter=true&page=1

Edit: Paul beat me to it :)

Yes, to be honest I’d check any ‘catalogue’ date against the coming soon list as it appears different people are uploading details to different parameters on the catalogue! Or one person who can’t come up with, or remember, a system! ;)

Sowing confusion with contradictory info.

Only thing I would say is, it's still a bit dark towards the coach ends. Otherwise it would of been a bespoke light strip and more expense and possibly delay. Where did you put it? Or did you ditch it?

Neil.
