Well, a start has actually been made! Not much to look at yet though!

The LH entry to the loop and the warehouse part is being built in copper clad. Being a cheapskate a double slip from Tillig would cost in the region of £45 and wouldn't be quite the right geometry to go with the points that I already have anyway,  I haven't built any for some years so we'll have to see what progress is like!

Another follower here!

I rather like Swiss steam locos as they are a very nice antidote to the sometimes (just ever so slightly) garish black & red German locos (which I still love btw!). So, I had to buy a Roco 2-10-0 'Elefant' when I saw it for £25 - it was in bits but all I need to do is re-assemble it.

Next on my list would be a Trix 2-6-4? tank loco, gorgeous!

I once was lucky enough to visit a large permanent Swiss H0 layout in the Derbyshire hills that is sadly now dismantled and the owner also owned a complete preserved train in Switzerland, he said whenever he wanted to give it a run, he just rang the authorities and they would give him a time - so easy going.

Just found this fab film on youtube of street running in Zurich. My German isn't above ordering food and beer but there's English subtitles to be had .

I see your Am 843, and I raise you an Eb 3/5...

I find videos like these immensely cheering in our current constrained, locked down state. They expand our world and make us realise that there will be fascinating places to travel to once we've fully got on top of the virus.

A little more progress with the completion of the double slip for the loop.

Not the best quality construction with some flaws but it does work on all routes. I could rectify them but it would be difficult to get the iron in with such close proximity rails and the danger of unsoldering the wrong thing!

Oh I do prefer to build this sort of thing in P4!

A new arrival for 'Rüthi'.

It's a Piko ES64 Siemens 'Displok'. As expected, it runs like the proverbial Swiss watch!

The real thing.

No progress at the moment on 'Rüthi' as 'Parkend Marsh Sidings' is taking  precedence.

Not at the moment Peter I'm afraid. All materials and stock are ready but ATM I'm focussing on getting the P4 Forest of Dean 'Marsh Sidings' effort finished first!

https://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/155788-parkend-marsh-sidings-in-p4/

I'm particularly pleased to have received a largish amount of Sommerfeldt catenary from Germany before the year end with no customs and VAT charges. I made the mistake of buying some items on Ebay from Germany in February that I paid £62 for only to receive a bill a couple of week ago of HMRC charges from the carriers of £24. I gave up with trying to get any contact with HMRC for them to explain!

Nothing has been done on Rüthi apart from further stock acquisitions. There is much to do what with finishing 'Parkend Marsh Sidings' and Balcombe which now has future bookings.

The plan is to gradually replace all the lost images on here which will be a laborious job best done in the winter!

The latest acquisition this lovely Piko Swiss special of a preserved Re4/4 Í.

A representation of this train can now be modelled with a red loco rather than the green one. Just need a couple more balcony ended coaches.

Still no progress apart than further acquisitions as other stuff keeps getting in the way!

I've always wanted something from the Swiss company HAG and acquired this Re4/4 II for the 'museumlok' collection. It was checked out on DRAG's test track on Monday (it has an '00' circuit) and ran like the proverbial Swiss watch.

It's rather 'old school' by today's standards but ran virtually silently.

Alas, it's on hold so there's no progress yet Peter

Now that Parkend Marsh Sidings is finished (well almost!) work has to concentrate Balcombe and the Viaduct on which much work is needed for it's first proper public outing next year at Fareham and in 2025 in Bristol.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sts-HyvihjQ

In the general scheme of things, it probably  won't be started until 2025 after the above commitments are fulfilled. I console myself by looking in the boxes from time to time, of all those lovely items of stock!

Also 10800 and I will be building 'Lisanno', an Italian '60s layout for which we have acquired a stock of those lovely brown electrics. It was started by the late Grahame Hitchens (bgman) and the plan is to build it in his memory.

So much planned..... so little time!
