Steam here!
What do you all think? For a 1st time? Weathered semaphore signal, ground signal, a static trap point, ground frame lever and point rodding. Note the royal mail van and the base marks the spot for the TPO Hornby (mail bag catcher). Steam here!
The coal merchant's lorry, 1st attempt at weathering a road vehicle. The glazing looks worse with the cameras flash. I wanted to give the viewer an impression this lorry is heavily used for the coal merchants. Edited March 24, 2020 by Steam here! Steam here!
(A view not normally seen) Looking towards the dairy, fuel depot and goods yard entrance. The loco shed on right with LNER D49 no: 2753 "Cheshire" on a loco driven railroad chassis. Note: The peco catch point next to the shed and track weathered. Hornby uncoupling ramps painted and have been the best ones I have found to use through trial and error. Edited March 24, 2020 by Steam here! I missed out some detail. Steam here!
The fuel depot entrance, the dairy's entrance will be to the left of the dairy due to lack of space.
Steam here!
As promised a track plan of the branch line terminus "Carltonholme" and its goods yard. Apologies about the quality, it did not come out the printer correctly. The rectangles are the uncoupling ramps, bottom 4 are for the station terminus all others are for the shed and goods yard. There is also barrow crossing highlighted between the engine shed and bay platform. I've also listed the points the way they are wired up. Isolated switches included (main and bay platform). The track in the branch line is now permanent. The track plan may/ may not be to scale but gives an accurate representation. (I've forgotton to add the footbridge from the country road to the station). I'm aware the siding from goods doesn't match up with the point going to the main line/ dairy or fuel depot. (Its all connected on the layout). Any feedback, ideas, suggestions welcome. Would kindly appreciate help regarding signal locations and what type needed. All will be semaphore and ground signals, particular where possible LNER and what's available on the oo gauge market. Edited March 25, 2020 by Steam here! I missed out some detail. Steam here!
I've been doing a bit of reading and have taken note of signalling and I think I'm beginning to understand it a bit better. So here goes what I think the signals should be (semaphore/ signal) I'll take photos to make it easier to understand. Here goes. Edited March 25, 2020 by Steam here! I missed out some detail. Steam here!
Loco release and short siding (main platform. Ground signal for loco release. 2 lever ground frame (1 blue and 1 black) Would you put the ground frame after the further point mount moter? Or closer next to the shunting signal? The siding on the left just for storage either a coach or 3 short wagons, would I need a signal? If so what type?
Steam here!
Main platform and run round loop. A starter (home signal required) can only be positioned on the far right next to the road bridge mouth due to the footbridge. Unless It would be okay to use a shorter starter signal. Run round loop would I need a ground signal or semaphore? If so where eould this go?
Steam here!
The engine shed road would I need a shunting signal to join the main line? Would I also need a trap point for the shed road? Would a singal starter do for the bay platform?

A short siding in front, where the auto train is, do I need a signal here if so which one? To the right, the loco shed headshunt, would I need any signals here and again if so where should they go and what types would I need?

Steam here!
I've been giving anyrail ago and the version I've got is the trial version (maximum no of pieces you can use is 50, including buildings and scenery). I've been looking at the main line MPD and was wondering if its possible to have a carriage facility e.g. carriage shed? no of roads: 2, would this be suitable, I know there are things such as carriage sidings and was wondering if MPDS ever did share/ or have carriages on sight? here are the trackplans, please note all track is loose. The turntable i will be using will be an old Airfix, which I don't mind using. I'll be using oo gauge code 100 set track, minimum 2nd radius. any help, ideas are welcome, as I said before all the track is loose (not nailed/glued down). main line MPD list: Breakdown train siding (breakdown crane, short goods wagon, tanker and brake van) if its okay (suits/fits with MPDS) Carriage shed (2 roads) 2 road loco shed already pre-rostered. (The ones that are ready to leave the shed and go about their duties). loco servicing works (1 or 2 roads if possible) Ratio hoist tower- standing above the track- loco servicing works water cranes water tower, may need 2? (let me know what you think) Deliveries- coal siding for delivering siding for empty coal wagons siding for box vans (any other type of wagons needed?) for delivering parts. Turntable Office, any other buildings needed? siding for locos stabling, I know its lot, its just rough ideas. Have I missed anything? Edited March 27, 2020 by Steam here! Steam here!
The point at the bottom right of the diagram is from the inner loop of the main line. the three little rectangle things are the water cranes. The 1st siding on the left is for the Breakdown Train The 1st two roads with the buildings I'm hoping will be the carriage sidings. (can fit 3 BR MK1s on each road happily). next to sidings up, is one of the engine sheds, this will be the one where engines are rostered for their daily duties on this road I can fit 4 pacific locos LNER A4S, LMS Princess Coronation, Sr Merhcnant Navies & gwr Kings Next siding up is for picking up empties, goods (wagons, vans anything really). Sidings up is for unloading goods needed. The very top one is a headshunt, quit happliy Fits pacifics. Please note: the trial version (Basic version) of Anyrail, dosn't allow me to use Peco 3 way points, double slips. Edited March 27, 2020 by Steam here! Steam here!
The otherside of the Main line MPD shows the inner loop of the main line and the entrance to the MPD (bottom right point). Bottom siding on the right is just for stabling or using water. The next one up is the turntable. The one above it is for unloading coal. Next to that one is for locos taking on coal, ratio coal tower. The building above that is for Repairing locos, here on one of the road will be the ratio locomotive hoist. Red building is a maintence building. The yellow is the large ratio water tower, would I need two of these for the site? Thank you for looking any feeback, ideas or suggestions is more than welcome. Steam here!
Layout update: Sierraton MPD as follows: Airfix turntable is now glued in place with clearence rings marked. I think this will be the final track formation for it. Top left to right: Road 1 = Break down train siding Road 2 + 3 = Stabling locos (Loco rostered for the day. Road 4 + 5 = general repair workshop. Road 6 = deliveries arrival Road 7 = coal siding for arrivals. Road 8 = headshunt (I might extend it a bit more and maje a barrow crossing for road deliveries and pick ups. Road entrance exit is far right, therd is space for peco surface point motors. Bottom left to right: Turntable Siding above? (Not sure what to do with this). Turntable road Coal delivery/ ash departing siding. Coal tower = underneath, will be ash pit also where locos will take on coal. To the right are 3 engine sheds facing the opposite direction (it gives me an excuse to the have the turntable in.
