We took Oldshaw out to the Define Modellers day at the weekend just past and despite a fuel injector failure on the way up the layout got there a bit late!

Our next outing is the excellent Derby Exhibition run by Mickleover Model Railway Group on 9/10 May 2020 at the Roundhouse opposite Derby station.

Cheers Mike

Good to see Oldshaw is seeing a new lease of life and also being opened up for through running, something that it has been crying out for for years. I look forward to seeing it at Derby, date penned in my diary (-:

Great to see Oldshaw is still going. I expressed an interest in it with Andrew several years ago as he was thinking of selling it, but then I forgot about it as we lost contact.

In the end my first venture into EM turned out to be Dave Tailby's Trevanna Dries after purchasing it from another DEMU member.

I did however manage to acquire Andrews model of 50014 as it bought by the same person who owned Trevanna.

I noticed that some of the bogie stock has S&W couplings, can I ask how they're fitted?

Cheers

Wayne

Hey I recognise a few of those locos!

Thanks to Tom H/Guy/Mike for a superb day back in the summer when we were allowed to have a socially distanced running session of Oldshaw - it was nice to see some more modern stock on Oldshaw!

A few more photos from the session below:

Hopefully it won’t be too long till we can have another play again!

Kind regards,

Will

Here are a few photos from the two socially distanced running days that we held over the summer. There was quite a bit of new stock done for the layout during lock down including a centre 150/2 car for 150144, the 155, 50149, PRAs as well as a couple of PWA fertiliser vans.

As much as I’m biased in liking the more modern stock, the job you’ve done on the 150/155 is stunning! They look right at home on the layout. 156 next? ;)

Kind regards,

Will

Thanks Will. I was thinking 150001 now that I've sourced most of the bits!

A 156 would look good though too and I should probably stick my hand in my pocket and get one of Charlie and Arran's. It's interesting to see it in ONE livery!

Whatley needs some love at the moment so is the focus for the rest of the year.

New stock will debut at the show.

Was nice to see Guy’s superb 58 earning it’s keep on some production HAAs through Oldshaw today!

Really nice to see some excellent new stock on the layout - particularly like the 45!

Kind regards,

Will

Opportunities to see the real 50149 on clay hood wagons must have been very limited, and certainly not in a summer setting (9/87 - 1/88).......but at least it was possible, which is good enough for most of us - just keep the loco in ex-works condition for maximum authenticity! And there's always Rule 1 anyway......

Very nice layout, I recall seeing it in 'Rail Express' (I think) a few years back and at a show a while after. One of those which sticks in the memory......!
