Hi folks

Has anyone marketed 3d printed lamp irons in 4mm please? Have trawled the web to no effect.... if not yet done wonder if anyone might produce please?

There are 4 patterns in our era of interest - BR Diesel late 60s/early 70s:

WR cowhorns - not an issue, covered by the excellent etched brass ones in the Extreme Etchings range - but the more complex ones are harder to do with brass,

The standard BR ones - the lower ones on this Peak....

and then theres NBL who seemed to do their own thing

On class 22 - similar to the BR one but to suit the WR with the lamp post rotated through 90 degrees

And on Warships - its that top centre one, have done it in brass but tests my soldering skills to the max - and the originals are vulnerable on the Bachmann model too.

Many thanks

I suspect 3D printing is unlikely to be suitable as plastics will probably be too fragile and I don't think metals can be printed thin enough.

Do Masokits do suitable ones? ( https://traders.scalefour.org/masokits/ )

Thanks Andrew. Looks like Masokits do a mixed fret - their catalogue tells the truth though - exasperatingly fiddly!!!!!

Hi Mark

Those do look good. The problem is that for the cussed WR the upright is at 90 degrees.....

PHD already have some lamp iron etchings, but I have no idea whether they meet your needs. Similarly other etchings are available from RT models, Roxey Mouldings and Brassmasters, the last offering a wide range of types, originally from the Finney range.

Cheers Nick. The only WR ones I have seen so far are the Extreme etchings WR cowhorns as fitted to 37s and Westerns

Will check those out though....

Thanks John that might reduce the fiddle factor a bit!!!

Will get some in

These are what we want to do...not very clear, essentially 3 elements - flat bracket and flat extension piece are no problem as they are in the same plane - its the accursed upright which is rotated through 90 degrees thats causing the issues.

Cheers
