What a nice layout, can’t work out how I missed it.

Excellent eye for detail and bringing it all together.

Its one of those that if I saw it listed for a show, I’d go the extra mile to get there ( or 100 !)

Any more progress on this layout @Gilbert?
Hope you are keeping well good sir? :)

Greetings Marc.

Once I added the new signal box it was effectively finished. I've been doing a few rolling stock projects such as this loaded BDA but most effort has gone into a replacement for Dock Street....a topic yet to come.

The new layout is called Cropper Street.....here's a taster.

A tantalising glimpse of your new layout, something to look forward to. Enjoyed seeing Dock St Sidings in this month Railway Modeller.

The article was much longer but got "micro"ed.....still fun.

I'll start a new topic in the next few days - the layout is close to completion - but it is very small......

and more importantly I trust you are also OK?

Ah, it's definitely not "more importantly" matey ;)
But I'm OK, thanks for asking. Still in work, still under threat of redundancy - apparently, that should now be the end of this year.

Still not getting any modelling done - I need the space. Wayne is interested in buying "Poynton Sneer" from me, and I could do with selling my Steelworks at night micro layout, maybe another layout and some stock.... then I'll have space (and the all-clear from Mrs Smith) to start something else (or even finish off another layout I started building sometime back).

Really like the look of that new project "Cropper Street" - I've been doodling a really small plan myself lately, the aim of it being to use up some of the EM bits & pieces I had left over, and for somewhere else to run my Ruyton Road stock.

Looking forward to seeing more info & pics of Cropper St, and looking forward even more to a time when we can all get to a show, sit down & have a good natter - catch up with some RMweb pals, and talk trains again :)

By way of an update - Penmaenbach has been photographed and should be appearing in Railway Modeller this year. The stock has been getting a bit of an airing - I have a half finished US HO layout in my "shed" and I've been playing trains...

Nothing wrong with playing trains, Chris. Its what they're made for after all.

It's all I'm doing for now.

Looking good.

Cheers Rob - not much modeling going on here either! The GP9 in the background gives a clue about the long term plan...the layout is not ideal for 4mm stock as there are numerous Kadee magnets dotted around under the track (both plain magnets or electro magnetic) and they hinder the running due to our steel axles....however I'm just doing what I fancy at the moment... ;)

The Thornbury and South Gloucestershire exhibition is currently going ahead on 20/21 November albeit in a slightly modified form with measures such as online booked admission only etc.

Penmaenbach may make its exhibition debut at the show....fingers crossed...

Thanks for sharing Chris, always a good show so will try and get there.

Firstly, lovely layout; lots of detail, without it looking cluttered. Just well observed and thought out. Bravo!

On backscenes, I am with Rambling Rich; if the viewing angles are shallow then things can look very odd. But, I do find that photo backscenes, if you plan the transition into the design of the landscape (ie there is a modelled 'horizon' behind which the backscene is seen) and viewing is nearer perpendicular, can add a lot.

The Thornbury show on 20/21 November has an updated website. If you decide to come you'll need to book on line in advance.

PMB is due in the December Railway Modeller to coincide with its maiden voyage at Thornbury.

Looking forward to catching up with a few RMwebbers there.
