Model model railway

Just messing around and thought I’d knock together a model model railway for a temporary outside exhibit on my Beatties store! Image of a Hornby track plan mounted on card. Ignore appalling workmanship I just thought it made a nice little cameo!

Very good, Sir. We model so many other things so why not this?  It reminds me of a thread on this site some years back where a guy had made a lovely row of buildings and peering into the attic of one you could see a model railway.  I believe his model also featured in the Railway Modeller one month.  Does anyone remember the gentleman's name, please, and is that thread still on RMweb?

As an aside, many, many years ago I worked for Beatties and one night I actually dreamt that the shop was outside, situated in a local park.  The counters were on the grass and customers walked along the path to get to each counter.  The dream only lasted about five seconds - perhaps just as well; working too close to model railways can obviously do funny things to you...

The printed layout looks excellent, what a lovely cameo! The question is, does the model model layout have a model railway on it...? :jester:

There is a 3D printed model of a model railway available on Shapeways - it's available in N or 00, but does need painting! 00 scale version here:

I bought the N scale one a while ago, so here are pics of it unpainted (on a 20p!) and painted:

Apologies for the blurriness, my phone wasn't overly keen on focussing on something that small!

Thanks for that link - I started making a OO gauge OO gauge layout a while ago, not finished it yet but it's in this post in my layout thread. I did think about drawing some more up to 3D print, as I've got an entire floor of my mill to fill as a model railway club!!!

For many years I have been a fan of the Sceniced and Undecided railway in the USA. They were tied in with the White River and Northern Railway which no longer exists but which had a working model railway on an N gauge layout. Somewhere there were details of how this was constructed. In the interim here is a link to the video. http://scenicedandundecided.net/video_20.htm  The original website for the Sceniced and Undecided Animation page can be found at this link: http://scenicedandundecided.net/animation.htm

Have fun with it. This is my first post since joining 20 minutes ago. I have been so impressed that I wanted to join in the conversation.
