RMweb Premium Andy Kirkham Posted January 26, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 26, 2020 (edited) I've been browsing the Peter Gray collection on the Transport Treasury website https://www.transporttreasury.com/p1039757392 and came across a rather charming and distinctly model-able quayside scene which I don't recognise. It doesn't seem possible to link directly to it; you need to follow the above link and go to image No.503 or a similar one at 515 Plymouth comes naturally to mind, but I don't recall any GW-served quays there where the land rises up so steeply immediately behind. Any suggestions? Edited January 26, 2020 by Andy Kirkham

RMweb Premium Andy Kirkham Posted January 26, 2020 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted January 26, 2020 (edited) Yes I think you're right. It looks a lot less picturesque nowadays if this is the same place. https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@50.5466383,-3.501721,3a,75y,8.12h,80.63t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1s93MRVJDWH-yQNIdPdJD01Q!2e0!7i13312!8i6656?hl=en-GB I hadn't taken into account that the railway in the background might be a main line Edited January 26, 2020 by Andy Kirkham 1

brianusa
Plymouth? If so about the only option would be back of Lockyer Quay which is close by where coasters used to discharge coal. For a while, the white crossing gate suggested the Southern line to Sutton Harbour. Only a guess! Brian.
Rivercider
Some time (1980s/90s?) that quay at Teignmouth has been filled into make the Western Quay longer, edit here is a distant view of Teignmouth from 1984, which I believe shows the location of the quay. The middle of the three ships (the one with just the stern showing) is actually in that quay I think. It has since been filled in. Siegerland (l), Viscount Groningen (m), and Baltica (r) at Teignmouth 21/7/84. cheers Edited January 26, 2020 by Rivercider Additional info 1
