MrWolf
I have also spràyed / blasted / dribbled all of my track with sleeper grime. Now I have to paint the rail sides and individually weather the sleepers. Apparently, "Mundane task focus" is good for my PTSD. Whether it's good for getting rid of it or good for prolonging it was not made clear... 1
RMweb Gold Mick Bonwick Posted July 14, 2021 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted July 14, 2021 'Thumbs up' for the trackwork. 'Heart' for the PTSD. 'Stupid grin' for the lack of clarity. 1 2

RMweb Gold Mick Bonwick Posted July 14, 2021 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted July 14, 2021 Most of the smell had gone by this morning, so with all windows wide open I proceeded with the removal of paint from the rail tops. I deliberately left the paint in place on the rails that turn off the board into the quarry siding, just in case the point ends up thrown in that direction. I suppose I could disconnect the track feeds and disable the point motor as well . . . . . . 12

I'm hoping that, by the time I start that seriously, there will be a full-blown quarry siding capable of holding many shunted wagons. Doesn't mean you're wrong, though. 3

The gentle curves are lovely on that mate. Thanks, Jay. I tried very hard to follow the real thing, but failed through 6" worth of insufficient space. There should have been space to put the engine shed and signal box on the left hand side at the top of the picture. I should have created the track plan BEFORE building the baseboards. Nonetheless, a fair representation has resulted, mainly through the use of curved points where possible, in order to prevent reverse curves. 3 6

MrWolf
Somewhere near back on topic, do you have any advice on ballasting pointwork without killing it? You appear to have tackled the most nerve wracking job first in the pictures.
RMweb Gold Alister_G Posted July 15, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 15, 2021 Hi Mick, I hate to interject a note of sanity to your thread, but I noticed that you have a bit of a nasty kink at the join between these two turnouts: You might want to address that before ballasting it? Cheers, Al. 1 1
