Chameleon
Can I fit a stay alive capacitor to a Loksound 3.5? i have a factory sound fitted Tillig narrow gauge loco which is a really horrible runner. A stay alive would help this a lot but I’m not sure if I can wire one up to a Loksound or not (or even if it’ll fit as it is a pretty small loco) it’s an expensive loco to leave in its box so I would like to get it running properly. I have tried tweaking the pickups and even sent it back to the shop to get fixed. None of it has really helped.
Hamburger
Difficult. The 3.5 has 2 circuits: power and internal. Power means track voltage. Internal is 5V, so you need 2 capacitors. Google search gives this: 6.3 V / 330 uF for internal and 1000 uF for power are usually sufficient. If and when you use an electrolytic capacitor (and only then) 16 V is ok even for 20 V track voltage, otherwise you have to use 25 V capacitor or a voltage limiter. RexAshton
Have a look at this. I've got one in a Roco BR80. It transformed it.
