In this update take a look a the landforms which have been built up and painted, as well as the addition of the backscenes, which have created using my own photographs to create a sense of depth. SDJR7F88
More progress... Backscenes added, test fitting trees, ready for the mud effect (the messy part)! I also started to form the road, which lines-up with road on my photographic backscene. Much like on Amiens 1918. 7
SDJR7F88
Time to get muddy! With the application of the mud effect, created using 50/50 brown wood filler & PVA, with just a splash of brown acrylic to give it a darker tone. Once the mix was ready it was applied by hand, very messy work! (Though I think I got away with it as nothing has been heard from the room cleaners). While it was setting, I took the opportunity to add the many tracks from carts and tanks, plus the footsteps from the troops. All these items where then glued into position, along with the first row of trees. 15

SDJR7F88
More progress on Argonne Forest, with the layout getting the green fingered touch! The start of the forest and ground cover has been added. Think is a blend of woodland scenics foliage and other scatters, blended together. The tree arches over the mud track and railway itself have really come out a treat! The tanks have also received another coat of weathering too. 8

SDJR7F88
The fifth instalment on the construction of "Argonne Forest" my WW1 Micro Layout built in a Hotel Room! In this update many milestones have been passed, starting with the all important mud effect has being added. As you can imagine this was quite a messy task, and certainly a challenge to do in a hotel room, without making to much mess! While this was drying, the first of the trench details and W^D Model figures were added, create the first of many little cameos on the layout. Not only that, the start of the the foliage has been added, creating the dense forest in which the scene is set. Hope you enjoy! 2
sb67
Looking really good Callum, really enjoying watching your videos. The mud looks fantastic as does the weathered tanks, just goes to show what can be done in minimum space and minimum mess
