Popular Post bgman
Confused ..... please bare with me for a few moments, It has been a few weeks since I last posted which is mainly down to my interest or lack of it for modelling, let me explain - Whether those who follow my posts consider my modelling to be reasonable I find myself becoming confused both artistically and technically from time to time. The artist in me has always struggled to attain something with which I am happy with and likewise the building of loco's or structures. I know what I wish to achieve in my minds eye as I am certain many of us do but getting there can often a challenge for me. I tend to watch others methods and then take on board various techniques where upon I do various trials based upon them. This may well be something others do too but as it needs to feel right in my mind I will leave well alone until the moment remerges when I am ready to start again. Some use phrases like "the black dog" or "mojo is lacking" these I don't subscribe to, but see it as a mind resting period. With several recent periods of bright weather I've taken the opportunity to sling my leg over my mountain bike and get out to quite open spaces and take in the beauty of the Devon countryside to gather my thoughts and hopefully a brief respite from the present state of things. Here is another visit to a previous spot last weekend ...... Recent orders are now filtering through which may well kickstart some of the basic work, one of which was delivered personally today ( quite legitimately I would add ). I now have two B7 point kits and a superb B7 Double Slip 31.5 gauge both from Greenwood Model Railways which pound for pound are excellent and cheaper than some other offerings IMO, also more accurate having been laser cut using Templot as a foundation. The Double Slip will replace my own which although works ok would need some fettling and as the unit is firmly glued and soldered together I may regret trying to correct some small areas thereby causing future problems ? The V's and central rails all come pre-made which is an absolute bonus and with plenty of accurate laser cut gauges supplied I am sure it will be both enjoyable and relatively easy to construct, as were the previous kits from Mike. When I become "in tune again" these will be the first things to complete which will herald all my main running lines finished and ready to lay permanently on the baseboards. Until then I expect to be out in the fresh air with my thoughts about various areas of the layout whilst trying to avoid a few tree roots or messy trails ! railwayrod
Just by way of being different the walk along the cycle track between Exmouth and Topsham is one of my favourites. At Topsham I usually cross the river in the small ferry boat and walk back to Starcross along the canal. This is about a 12 mile walk and is level for most of the way. Where else in Devon can you do a 12 mile walk without hills? Rod 5

Last time I was down that way I went from Exeter along the canal then took a ferry across to that side although I dont think I was as far down as Starcross. Maybe I was. Have also carried on round to Dawlish and Teignmouth previously although there was a small hill in that! Edited March 30, 2021 by Hal Nail

Thank you, I have no explanation for it but I am just the same currently. If I haven't got the feelings then I find it pointless to do anything just for the sake of it. Your rejuvenation certainly shows with the excellent work you have and are currently producing and I intend to keep following. RMweb Premium Gedward Posted March 31, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted March 31, 2021 Thanks Grahame, there's no rhyme or reason why I guess. Last year the distraction was diy stuff mainly. Plus several early morning rides around the docklands. Got some stunning sunrise pics as a bonus.
