RMweb Gold TravisM Posted February 16, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 16, 2020 When I was looking into building a steel mill, steel from POA wagons was either bailed (imagine a car crushed) or loose as it had been through a fragmenter. Loose scrap looked like strips, odd shapes, tubes etc and basically a rusty colour from being outside. I hope that’s of some help.
Petesquire
Hi Andrew, 10 Commandments do cast loads for these wagons. Both baled and loose scrap.
RMweb Gold Gilbert Posted February 17, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 17, 2020 The one I had was a little small but I used it to make a slightly bigger one
37501
Good afternoon, Scrap can be made using any old plastic items from your scrap or spares box. Old pens, plastic packaging etc. Held in place with glue, painted with a brown colour enamel and dusted with rust coloured weathering powder. Paint selected items different colours to add a bit of contrast. Took a while to fill and paint 10 MBA wagons.... John 4
RMweb Gold TravisM Posted February 17, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 17, 2020 I’ve just received issue 271, March 2020 issue of Model Rail and there’s a excellent section about modelling scrap and POA wagons.
TRAILRAGE
Images do seem hard to come by but hopefully these may help to a degree 4
Fat Controller
Baled scrap seems to have dropped from favour; when I've passed CELSA in Cardiff, all the scrap seems to be shredded. Presumably to do with the furnace?
