dasatcopthorne
Hello All. I am currently building a small 5' long layout representing a small yard. (See Elbow Lane in the Layouts section) I'm looking for info on a small diesel refuelling point. Just one loco and no roof over it like the Bachmann offering. In fact something quite crude as it is at the front of the layout so I cannot have too much infrastructure to it. Does anyone know of one and better still know where I can find photos of it please? Thanks in advance. EL Edited February 17, 2020 by dasatcopthorne Spelling
RMweb Gold Dagworth Posted February 17, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 17, 2020 How about the Knightwing kit as a starting point? http://www.knightwing.co.uk/cgi-bin/commerce.cgi?cart_id=&product=OO-HO_Building_Kits&pid=167 Andi
RMweb Premium CloggyDog Posted February 17, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 17, 2020 The one on my EM layout Barber's Bridge is broadly similar to the Knightwing offering with the angled roof, but is a whitemetal kit of unknown origin. Wouldn't be that difficult to scratchbuild in plastic if you fancied a modeling challenge?
Alcanman
I used the standard Bachmann fuelling point but removed the roof on my small Tees Yard WRD layout. It can be seen at the bottom of the photo. The prototype fuelling point at Tees Yard is a simple affair with no roof covering.

RMweb Premium CloggyDog Posted February 17, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 17, 2020 Even simpler is the arrangement EWS used at Acton Mainline, just some hard standing and the occasional 2 axle road tanker fuelling the locos directly.

And at the Network Rail workshops in York https://PaulBartlett.zenfolio.com/road/e2bb3da71 Alternatively the short lived Freightliner fueling point in York https://PaulBartlett.zenfolio.com/yorkwagonworks/e514d2262 https://PaulBartlett.zenfolio.com/yorkwagonworks/e514d2394 https://PaulBartlett.zenfolio.com/yorkwagonworks/e514d272a https://PaulBartlett.zenfolio.com/yorkwagonworks/e514d272a Paul
RMweb Gold MarshLane Posted February 17, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 17, 2020 There's also the feeling point at Ipswich and the Freightliner one at Barnetby, the latter is about as basic as they get without needing a road tanker there! RMweb Premium Alex TM Posted February 17, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 17, 2020 Hi, I don't have any photos of my own, but have a search for the fuelling point that used to exist at Perth station; it may be of interest. Regards, Alex.
