PECO have provided a kit for the Body of the Fletcher Jennings loco (Branchlines do a very nice etched chassis for this)

Wrightlines supplied kits for the ex Corris Loco as well as Dolgoch. You can still occasionally get these.. but they are out of production

The 7mm Narrow Gauge are reissuing the Port Wynstay kits. I did have a recent list but I have mislaid it and they are, as yet, not on the Association website.

Worlsey works do a fair few Talyllyn coaches. From their website-

Talyllyn Railway Coaches in 7mm Scale

1/2     Brown Marshall

3         Brown Marshall

9         Rebuild on WG Allen U/frame

10       Brake Rebuild on WG Allen Underframe

14/15  First Ex Glyn Valley Rebuild

17        Ex Corris Coach **-

18        TR Built **

19        Composite Coach **30'1969

20/21/23   Third Class Coaches *28'2"

22        Brake30' 1972 Bogie

  * Sides, ends, floor and roof
** Sides and ends only

These really are not difficult to do - fasten together 4 sides, add floor, roof and bogies. A good way to head towards scratchbuilding. Mine are built using Ratio bogeys and standard O gauge seats

There some items on the Shapeways site. Most are based on Talyllyn stock.

Shapeways example

But, if you are a member of the 7mm Narrow Gauge Society news is more readily available (such as the Port Wynstay re-introductions as well as the Societys' own Slate wagon kits.

I must correct you there Barry - the Association is NOT reissuing the Port Wynnstay kits. @Phil Traxson, owner of Port Wynnstay, is now getting the business back up and running after a hiatus - see the EDM Models advert in the latest issue of Narrow Lines:

I’ve tagged Phil here so that he can advise further.

Please note that EDM is currently CLOSED for a few weeks whilst Paul recovers from an unexpected stay in hospital (not Covid19 related thankfully).

Back to Tom’s modelling now - Sir Handel looks excellent Tom.

Cheers mate!

It's probably going to be next weekend before I spray him now. Plan to start working on wagons this week.....including one heavily inspired by the Corris! ;)

I am currently working on rolling stock.

I am in the process of painting up my first three slate wagons. These are Skarloey Railway slate wagons (Talyllyn Railway), but I also have some ex Mid Sodor slate wagons on the way (ex Corris Railway).

My plan is to run them in fixed rakes of around 3 wagons. The aim is to recreate scenes like this within the working timetable.

S.R's No. 4 'Peter Sam' has left his coaches at 'Skarloey Station' and is now on the Mineral Extension on route to Ben Glas Quarry, to collect loaded slate wagons. The date is 1958, and the working is one of the lasts, with the quarry to be sold to the MoD as an ammunition dump in the next couple of years.

Not quite felt myself today, so have taken myself off to the workroom. Slate wagons now branded and numbered plus the Skarloey Mail Waggon is now painted up ready for transfers.

Tempting as it is I don't think I will for now.
I was a member many moons ago and as much as I had an interest in narrow gauge (I still do but I am one of those that like my kits complete and plenty of them), I haven't a massive all round interest and so I honestly don't think it would benefit me, at least not at this time.

To be fair I might even have to take a back seat to modelling as things are. I have a much bigger project that is going to take a substantial amount of time and storage space. I think, for now, I will complete my Peco/Branchlines kit of Talyllyn and my Branchlines kit of a little narrow gauge railbus and the bits and pieces that I just need the final touches adding to it and then call it a day.

Tomorrow's plan, is to get 'Mail-Waggon' transfers onto the red wagon, and possibly make a start weathering the wagons.

If I'm feeling brave (I keep putting it off) I'll use CIF on the brass cab of Sir Handel, wash it off, and then see about spraying the body with primer.

Superb work Tom - that mail wagon looks lovely.

Cheers Neil, I'm really pleased with the waggon (and the slate ones too). Made up for things not working out with Sir Handel this weekend. Plan to paint him next weekend.

Fantastic work Tom - Sir Handel is looking great!

What's the colour that you've used please? I've been trying to find something suitable for my 7mm Skarloey stock and what you've used looks just right.

Hi Neil
It's Vauxhall Sunburst Red from Halfords. I need to get myself another can at some point as I've run out (Rheneas will be up next).

Quick question, @Hawin Dooiey - when you get to Peter Sam, will that be with or without Giesl ejector?

Without. My operating period is 1949-1959. Peter Sam received his Giesl ejector in January/February 1961.

The new rake consists of ex Mid Sodor Railway slate wagons as used at Cas-ny-Hawin slate mine and bought by the Skarloey Railway for scrap value (ex Corris). Some still retain their old MS branding, while others have had the new ownership crudely marked out. The third wagon is a 3 bar SR (Talyllyn) slate wagon.

Hi all

Apologies on the lack of posting, not particularly felt my self recently. I have however been working away.

Coach 5 (coach 4 on the Talyllyn) 'Lucy' is now painted up, as is Coach 3 'Jemima'. Pleased how well the masking process went.
