Job's Modelling
I have finished the Austin A70 Countryman. Lovely kit from John Day but takes some time to paint. I’m pleased with the result. I have placed the car in my George Inn diorama. Greetings, Job Edited February 23, 2020 by Job's Modelling 5
ianmacc
And very good it looks too. Is that a real inn? 1
SRman
The John Day car kits are nice and simple, but, as you have proved, benefit greatly from careful paint jobs and finishing. The Austin looks great. 1

The pub is a fictive pub built from Petite Properties kit. Textures from Internet, Scalescenes, Model Railway Scenery and Clever Models. Figures are from the Monty range, the dog from Langley, the post box from P&D Marsh models. 2
BernardTPM
That design is so 1950s. Austin certainly had a cuddly kind of style going with their cars then. 1

They are waiting for their paint job.
BernardTPM
I've got a few still to do, but I did finish the Sunbeam Talbot 90 a few years ago. Picture is on the John Day website.

She made the journey from Newcastle to Lyon (at 30 mph, as we were running in the big end) , returning at the same speed (due to 400 miles of unbroken fog). Nice cars, but under-powered.
BernardTPM
The A40 is contemporary , but not the same as the A70; there was also an A70 saloon. Just as the A30 was the small, the A40 was the medium and the A70 large (six-cylinder 2.2 litre engine). That would have been a bit faster...
BernardTPM
Hopefully, though the Countryman version looks to be carrying a small copse around with it!

Surely it was the older 4-pot that later found its way into the Gypsy, rather than the early C-Series 6 that, I thought, only appeared with the Cambridge/Westminster (pre-Farina) shape.
BernardTPM
Sorry, yes, it was a 4 cylinder, 2.2L.
