portsladepete
I want to remove the body from my 4f to add some lubricant, the instructions just mention remove two screws, the rear one is superbly hidden under the wiring to the tender, and it also retains the draw bar. It looks like said bar needs to come out for the body to come off, anyone know?
Sam Moss
The screw holding in the draw bar needs to come out and then from memory, the one under the NEM pocket on the front. it been a while since i disassembled one and mines tucked away in the loft somewhere. When I feel a bit braver I’ll give it a go.
RMweb Gold Rowsley17D Posted February 28, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 28, 2020 You have to take the drawbar out in order to remove the body. It fits round a stub so you have to wiggle it a bit to get it out of the slot which is preventing you from removing the body when the bar is in place. portsladepete
Thanks Rowsley, it’s very smooth but a bit “growly” ,doubt if it will quieten down, but will see if a bit of lube helps.
34theletterbetweenB&D
Before adding lubricant, take a look at what is already in place. If the model runs smoothly despite growliness, then quite often it is gobs of poorly dispersed grease on the gear train causing this, and an hour or three of running will take care of it.
