I have been working on the layout today and planted a tree which I made myself using the twisted wire technique and plaster and lichen. I've also done a bit of ballasting and painted the track. Here is a couple of photos of lastest progress: More soon. Jerry. Very nice Jerry and excellent work on the tree. 3
Jerry1975
Thanks for the replies Everyone. Today I am going to cover the bridge in brick paper or maybe brick sheet if I have enough and then detail it up and add the road too. Jerry.

Jerry1975
Hi Everyone. I did some work on the bridge today and it doesn't look to bad, I built it with bits of brick paper I had lying about, I'm not 100% happy it but there is more to do yet so it may look better then. Here is a quick photo: More soon. Jerry.
mbenson
Looks good Jerry. I admire your ability to ‘get on with it’, I’m suffering too much from I’ll do it tomorrow... Edited March 6, 2020 by mbenson

My wife thinks she's a modelling widow as I have spent most of today on the layout so I have finished for tonight. Before I go, here is a quick photo of the finished bridge: It looks better now, going to blend it into the layout tomorrow. Jerry.

TechnicArrow
For what it's made from, that bridge looks superb! I think it would perhaps benefit from another lintel just above the openings, but now you've done the smoke-weathering it looks pretty realistic. Overall I'm enjoying watching the layout take shape. 1

Dzine
Hi Jerry, Large areas of plain brickwork can always look a bit odd and sometimes overpowering, particularly on a small layout, mine certainly did, though they improved vastly once I put the embankments and hedgerows in. Kind regards Paul

Jerry1975
Thanks Everyone for your replies. Quite a bit has been done since the last photo/update and I will post a photo and info later, I'm cleaning up the mess at the moment to keep SWMBO happy. Jerry1975
Hi Everyone. Here are the photos of the latest progress on the layout: The finished bridge, field with sheep etc. Looking up the layout towards the bridge. Still a lot to do, but getting there. More soon. jinty50
Jerry the sheep look quite at home grazing on the grass. Can I ask what make the tractor is as I’m looking for something the same. BTW great work. 1

The sheep are looking for the farmer which I will add when I paint it, also a sheep dog will be added. The other end of the layout taking shape. Jerry1975
Hi Everyone. I've done a bit more work on the layout, added another tree and a fence around the field with the tractor, also a wall to hide the fiddle yard. I will post a few photos tomorrow. Jerry1975
Hi Everyone. Here is a quick update to progress on the layout. Ratio fence posts added awaiting painting and wires adding. Tree added to field, Penelope added as first passenger and a retaining wall built to hide fiddle yard. Here are some photos: Penelope waiting for her train. Retaining wall added. Overall view of left hand side of the layout, showing fence a tree in field ( which is not glued yet ) Close up of field. Still lots to do. More soon. Jerry. RMweb Premium MAP66 Posted March 11, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted March 11, 2020 Excellent progress report Jerry, loving the detail you are adding. Is the layout operational as yet? as I would find it hard to keep on modelling with the continuous temptation of wanting to shunt something. A very nice dilemma to have. RMweb Gold chuffinghell Posted March 11, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted March 11, 2020 Looking great Jerry, I do like these micro layouts. I’d like to have a go at one myself when my current layout is finished so that’ll be 2030 (ish) Chris
Jerry1975
Thanks for the replies Everyone. The layout is fully wired and functional, it's quite fun to operate. ( forget to mention in a earlier post ). I have a railcar for passenger duties and a small 0-4-0 and 0-6-0 and coach too. I am saving up for a class 121 bubblecar to add to the passenger roster. I would urge anyone to have a go, it's a simple design and fun to operate, you could use Paul's original design or like myself use your own take on it. Thanks, the trees are made using strands of forest wire that you twist and then shape into your desired tree shape, I then cover in tile grout mixed with a bit of pva glue, once dry I add a second coat and when dry paint and add lichen. It's a messy way of doing it and you're wrists get knackered but you can get quite good results. Jerry.
jinty50
This is a great little layout Jerry. The lady in pink looks quite fetching, nice modelling throughout Jerry.
