CR (Rossignol) streamlined clockwork trains

Thank you. A good reminder to those of us in the UK that there's more than just Hornby tinplate.

 

I'm not familair with Rossignol (unless it's as skis). What gauge are these, and when would they have been made?

Charles Rossignol started to make tin toys in 1868 in Paris, France and used the trademark C.R.. In 1962 C.R. stopped making toys. The 0 gauge train I ran this afternoon is from 1939. C.R. made al kind of metal toys. Toy trains were made as floor trains and in the gauges 28 mm, 33 mm and 35 mm (the latter being 0 gauge, the gauge being measured from the middle of the rails). Most trains were clockwork trains, only a few electric trains were made.
