Exhibition cancellations (not much to do with that anymore!)

In view of the Government’s latest advice re avoiding “non-essential” contact, the EMGS has made the decision to cancel expoEM Spring. We realise that this will cause disappointment to many people but the Society is of the firm belief that it would be foolish to ignore the advice and go ahead with the show.

Many small clubs rely on the annual exhibition to survive. Is there anyway a "virtual" exhibition could be staged, to raise funds - and providing links to traders websites, as many of them will be dependent on the sales they make at exhibitions?

I have a distinct feeling the type of traders that have fully functional websites with online ordering facilities and such are the ones the least affected by the cancellation of shows.

The smaller traders that rely on shows are a lot more likely to either not have a website at all or only a basic one and any mail order setup is strictly old fashioned email/post based and wouldn't actually hold up to replacing their show attendance.

Wonder if this means that Shawplan might actually start answering the phone?

EMGS website not yet updated.  This needs to be done a.s.a.p., as it will be the first place most people look to find out whether Expo-EM is 'on' or 'off'.

Any news on Derby Model Railway Exhibition - 9th & 10th May 2020?

Please allow clubs to follow whatever decision making and notification processes they have to go through before they are ready to make public announcements. We don't need 'any news' posts putting pressure on people to deal with individual enquiries - I had a belly full of it over the weekend with respect to Ally Pally, dealing with some people who felt they should be told before everything else was sorted out.

Unfortunately, this will not be an unexpected message regarding the 2020 Derby Model Railway Exhibition. With the current situation regarding the Coronavirus/Covid-19, Mickleover Model Railway Group has had to take the decision to cancel this year's event which was due to take place on 9th & 10th May. Obviously, the well-being and safety of exhibitors, traders, visiting public and club members has to be our first priority.

Once things are more settled, and clearer, I will be in touch regarding the 2021 exhibition and it would be great if you were all able to join us on 8th & 9th May next year - prior commitments permitting. In the mean time, thank you for your continued support of the Derby Model Railway Exhibition and, remember, keep washing your hands!

Hi Andy

On behalf of the 2mm Scale Association, I can confirm that our Diamond Jubilee Expo on the 20th/21st June in Derby has been postponed and the plan is to hold the celebration at the same location in June 2021 making it a 61st anniversary celebration instead.

many thanks

Nigel

before anyone starts moving shows to October this year.. there are already a lot of show already taking place in October. Nice to see a lot of shows having their next shows next year on their usual dates.

Given the development of a vaccine could take anything up to 18 months who knows what will happen in October....sad but true..lets just all hope for good health and sufficient wealth in the next 12 months..

Hi,

Postponement of shows to later in the year could result in many clubs losing lots of money rather than raising some money if it ends up with many shows on the same weekends.

Regards

Nick
