009 micro modeller
https://www.southendstandard.co.uk/news/18159743.southend-pier-trains-designs-revealed/ Don’t think there’s anything on here about this yet, also I suspect the timeline for introduction suggested by the article will be delayed given current circumstances. My initial thoughts are that I like the green and cream livery as it seems to hark back to the 1949 electric stock on the original 3’ 6” gauge line, but that having USB charging points seems a bit unnecessary for such a short line. It also seems a shame in some ways that they’ve gone for battery electric rather than electrifying the line, although obviously the safety case for this might be fairly difficult nowadays. Obviously these will be replacing the current Severn Lamb diesel trains (I wonder if anyone will attempt to preserve these in some form) but I can’t work out whether the existing Castleline single-car battery unit (which is also slightly younger than the diesel trains) will be retained.
