Railfreight1998
Hello everyone. This is my latest (second) layout, Redfield. It represents the exchange siding and works of a small private railway, with the cumbrian coast main line running alongside. The layout is continuous run, or it will be once the removable span is constructed to link the two sides. Track and points are all code 100, with mixture of peco streamline for the mainline and Hornby on the branch. Not ideal I know, but the Hornby track should look ok in the industrial setting. Some pictures showing the recent progress More to follow soon. Cheers, Evan Edited June 7, 2020 by Railfreight1998
Railfreight1998
More pictures This area will become the storage yard, and is the only part of the first layout to remain. Thanks for looking
Railfreight1998
Afternoon all. More ballasting of the main line completed today, although I think I've made the shoulder too wide at the start of the transition curve, so that may be trimmed down. I've also tried superelevation on the mainline. Not sure if this picture shows it too well - I can post better ones if people want Weathering on this Bachmann ssa has also been completed, with the interior being modelled empty but with some scrap that was missed during unloading still remaining. Opinions, comments all welcome. Thanks, Evan 5
Railfreight1998
Not much progress on the layout today, but more work has been carried out on a part demolished terrace that was started some time ago. Card and foamboard were used for the main structure, which was covered with brick paper before the remains of wallpaper were applied. Fireplaces have been left attached to the wall, presumably awaiting removal later. The structure roughly on place on the layout. More work might be needed on the second section to blend the wall in with the first part. The broken window. Right - back to track laying then . Thanks for looking Evan 4

Railfreight1998
Thanks for the likes and comments everyone Some progress has been made, mainly adding the final pinboard sections to the boards and completing the track laying on the first board. The disused 'branch off a branch' has had the empty sleepers added to the end. Next job will be to lightly ballast and cover with plenty of weeds, and add the remains of the point off the loop. A mock up of the loading platform has also been placed in its rough position. Not sure whether to keep the left hand siding or not, I'm wondering if it makes the scene look to cluttered. Opinions are welcomed. A final shot showing a workmans train in the platform. Must do something about the coupling on the loco - another lockdown project I think. Stay safe everybody Evan
Railfreight1998
Not much progress to report really. Any enthusiasm pretty much disappeared after the recent tragedy; sadly all too close to home. Here's a shot of some of the few completed stock projects being shunted be sentinel No.7. Playing around with some of my phone's camera functions has produced quite a nice atmosphere I think. Ta for looking
Powerhaul 70 Pey
That part demolished house looks great. Very fine detailing indeed! The elevation on the track looks good too. Nice one.

Railfreight1998
Update time at last. Board 2 has progressed slightly, with the track being laid and the main mostly ballasted. The industrial tracks have had the sleepers respaced to 'lighten' the track, and the card roadways are cut out ready for painting and fixing. Most of the work has been on the main section though. Ballasting has begun on the dock lines, using a mixture of Woodland scenics fine cinders, medium grey and some crushed coal. The waste ground next to the terrace has gained ground cover and slabs, together with the remains of a wall and a fence. The icy puddle has worked quite well, and is more prominent in reality. As usual, thanks for looking. Hopefully more visible progress soon.
