Identifying Georgian coach (Russian design?)

I came across the photo linked above and was just wondering if anyone could help me to identify whether the coach is a standard design (presumably it’s an old Russian design) and ideally I’m also keen to find some photos of what the same type looked like in service.

Thanks,

Danny

Unsurprisingly, pictures of soviet-era carriages are not widely available online (or if they are, I'm not using the right search arguments). You might try searching at railfaneurope.net (Pictures on top of page, then 'ru' on the flag). Maybe also other ex-soviet countries there. From skimming a few of the russian directories I guess it was a sleeping car (bunks along the coach, not across).

The best bet is to use Translate to let you do your search in the "native" language, then you get a lot more stuff. Where you can get this link after translating "railway passenger coaches" into Russian!
