Maximum amount of MK1 Restaurant cars

It depends which restaurant cars and when. In the 60-70's there are a variety of photos showing a RB with RU and also a RU with RMB on both the ER and LM services. By the mid 60's there had been a cull of the early full RKs and there were a limited number of RKBs, which presumably mean that some services needed two catering cars.

 

With the RKBs these would have been paired with one or two day coaches, by 1962 most of the RFOs (7 of 11) had gone so there would need to be a RSO or RUO (10xx). As there were only 57 of these it would be unlikely to see two in a train,  one of the late production MK1 FOs or SOs (2+1 seats) often deputised.
