My concrete hard standing for the depot is made from A4 plastic sheets,

and super glued in place between the rails.

Ive cut channel lines in with Stanley knife to show concrete sections and cracks ect..

Filled in with rusty track grime mixs..

Ive used three base colours for the concrete here..

Tamiya acrylics

Deck tan xf-55

wooden deck tan xf-78

Neutral grey xf-53..

Ive overlayed the paints and each tie once dry used red scotch pads to gently rub down

Now ive used both airbrush and then filled in with dry brush finish,

on the depot hard standing..

Main colours are Humbrol matt paints mixed .

matt 26 brown

matt 29 brown

matt 33 black.

Then once dry ive dry brushed in using make up brush:D

Track grime and rust effects from the Vallejo range these are acrylics...

Fun part now adding and making kits for the insides of the depot building..

1st one is standard Knightwing depot catwalk, but with thin brass tubing and LED"s for lighting.

These wil be wired to the main yard lighting towers shortly...

Superb work. Really love the hardstanding sections.

This is something I still have to do on my layout. The trick with a knife is a great idea which I am definitely going to try.

Wow, really excellent work here mate. Thank you for letting me know about this new thread. It's brilliant.

Just a thought. The hard standing in the depot area, have you glued it directly onto your baseboard or is it glued to something else underneath that means it can be removed if you ever wanted to?

I will be following with great interest.

Keep up the excellent work.

Thank you.

Kind Regards,

Danny.

It's a really realistic depot. The signs on the front and side of the depot look excellent. I think it just shows that sometimes the smallest bits of detailing can make a big difference to a building, shed etc.

Kind Regards,

Danny.

The concrete hardstanding looks good saxokid. :)

It looks so good it could be the remains of a demolished shed in real life.
