RMweb Gold wenlock Posted April 3, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 3, 2020 It looks rather like GWR light stone to me. 1
RMweb Premium Siberian Snooper Posted April 3, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted April 3, 2020 I agree, it does look like light stone, but whether it's authentic or not is another matter, perhaps Miss Prism will be along later and shed some light on it. Miss Prism
I wonder if a lot of flash has been used in the photo, and which has altered the colour sigificantly. I imagine 933's primary interior colour should be like SRM 93 Pete S will no doubt be along shortly to tell us all.
The Great Bear
The doors on K22 1145 have the same colour but not the rest of the interior which is white. RMweb Premium Siberian Snooper Posted April 4, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted April 4, 2020 Plain wood or white, would have been my choices.

I asked exactly the same question when I was at Didcot a few years ago & was told it was light stone. The K14 was newly painted at the time. I was surprised tho' but couldn't find out the authority that lead to the decision to so paint it. Martin
RMweb Premium Siberian Snooper Posted April 4, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted April 4, 2020 When I built the Slaters D14, the instructions said plain wood as per compartment bulkheads, the internals of all the other brake ends I have been in have been white(ish). Hence my comment a few posts ago.
Miss Prism
Although this vehicle did not suffer the ravages of time after normal GWR and WR service, it seems as though a significant amount of new wood was involved, particularly for the doors, so maybe the inauthentic painted-colour interior was chosen to blend over the different woods.
WillCav
If they wanted it to look like wood, they should have spoken to some LNER experts about painting teak effect!
