Super building Mike great to see you posting your progress on here again.  I notice the oiled canvas / tarpaulin roof makes a worthy re-appearance.

Deffo marked down as one to follow.

Both stay safe.

Now you will like this (not a lot)  to Paul Daniels, I happened to use the template the wrong way round and first produced a right hand point. So for the purest I have in fact got 5 points.:jester:

Not really an update other than I have been assembling and fitting Dingham couplings to wagons and locos. So far I have managed 11 wagons and 5 locos. I cant say that it has been an enjoyable experience but a satisfying outcome, particularly as they all worked first time which is an added bonus otherwise I might have turned to drink, Oh hang on I already have.:dancer:

Well whilst I'm waiting for my baseboards I continue to plod on with buildings for Harts Hill. First off is the foundry which will have as yet to be built the pattern shop, repair shop, work room, office tempering shed and oven. These will have direct rail access.
Photos of the foundry building with the roof templates taped in position - need my supply of plastic card to arrive - just for effect.

Thanks Rod, the track plan is as my Wallows layouthttps://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/115955-the-wallows/page/2/ although the boards will be 2ft wide not the original 18 inches and the layout including fiddle yard will be 12ft long an increase of 3ft. The canal side buildings will hide the fiddle yard and the foundry will hide the exit. I started the pattern shop and added the extractor to the foundry roof. Once the buildings are all constructed it will be a monumental paint and weathering session. I intend to use Marcway track when I can get it, I have all the catches and pattern makers dowels I need thanks to the fantastic next day service from Station Road Baseboards. I'm almost tempted to go DCC shock horror.

The continuing saga of Harts Hill 0 gauge micro. So far the foundry building is well underway along with the pattern, repair and tempering shops as seen in the pics. The roofs are not fitted merely resting in place as the are not finished. Now on with office building and once my supplies arrive, paint and evergreen plasticard I can complete all.
cheers
stay safe
Mike

As usual Mike your modelling is inspirational. Do keep the pictures coming.

With regard to DCC there is nothing quite like the extra dimension that sound gives the layout. When I decided to convert Ramchester to DCC I had some doubts but I have never regretted my decision. To sit and listen to a loco gently simmering between shunts is fantastic and once you have a sound fitted loco I am certain that you will never go back to analogue. OK the initial expense is maybe a bit high but I am certain that you will never regret this outlay.

More bodging on the office, pattern shop and tempering shop. I should have connected the office lights before taking a photo and tidied the working area.

If that's your 'bodging', Mike, I can't imagine how good your buildings would be if you really set your mind to it..!! ;)

You know me and my not liking making buildings, it’s just that I have started in the middle rather than the beginning which means I have an end. So my beginning is now my middle whilst my middle is now my beginning and my end is still the end, although  that could all change :crazy_mini:

When I chose the name of my new layout build Harts Hill, it was suggested by local historian and author Ned Williams that it would have to include the cinema. Immediately I pictured an art deco style structure with a name such as The Danilo or Odeon, but it turns out the Limelight Cinema once in Harts Hill but now rebuilt at the Black Country Museum is not much more than a barn. Now me being me I have tweaked and slightly modified my take on it so that it will fit into the location. I hope that I have managed the essence of the building which still needs finishing. The poster/name board in the background includes Buster Keaton in the General and a small version is on the outside wall of the cinema. I have also almost finished the main foundry structure just the roof and internal detailing to do.

Have built the first 3 of 4 boards and started laying track . Board 4 will be the fiddle yard.  Boards 1-3 are 900x600 board 4 will be 1200x600.  Progress so far: photo 1 is boards 1&2 photo 2 is boards 2&3 the reason they are set up on the garden table is I have not yet built the legs. The wagon was used for testing the joints as the layout has been built as a portable.

My foster kids were fascinated by the cinema at the BCLM, because they were expecting a large art deco type cinema like our local here in Keighley (at least they weren't expecting a multiplex!). Probably normal to me, as a Gornal lad who ended up at the museum every couple of years as a child on school trips as well as family outings, I probably sat in the shed cinema more frequently than the UCI at Merry Hill :)

The design allows the layout to be split into two inglenooks. Boards 1&2 and 3&4, 3&4 being the easiest option but the hardest to operate. All good fun should I wish not to have the whole layout set up.

Harts Hill latest progress: Elec trickery is now completed on all 4 boards and it worked first time with no under the breath mutterings. Well pleased, Okay I know it is only 5 live frog points and standard DC wiring but it’s tidy and working. I will post a video when I can set the whole layout up on the trestles, well 2 folding trestle tables, quick relatively inexpensive strong and easy to store. It has meant not having to build any baseboard legs as I have done in the past. Hey Ho, there is of course a downside in as much that I still have my New Level Mill layout taking space in the man cave. On the plus side It doesn’t need to be ready for any shows this year.
