As has been evidenced further back in the topic they're happy to deal with customers' wishes on a case by case basis. . So, does that mean they will extend the return date, or should everyone return theirs's now ? ( And, yes, I have bought some. ) .

It doesn't mean any of those things (I've just checked and can't see any intimation towards anything at all like that), if you have purchased any and want to speak to them do so.
Jack97m
Just had a quick look through the last couple of pages and can’t see anything mention this so I thought I would, just went onto the footplate website and it seems they’ve removed all the salmon wagons from the website.
RMweb Gold adb968008 Posted February 4, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 4, 2021 (edited) Just want to thank Footplate who recieved my return on Tuesday and have refunded me in full already. If the Salmon is resolved I will have no issues re-ordering in the future. Edited February 4, 2021 by adb968008 2 2
RMweb Premium Temeraire Posted February 4, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 4, 2021 I’ll echo that, they received my returns this morning and the refund was in my account by mid afternoon! I will also gladly reorder once the issue is sorted out.

w124bob
Is the width out as well? I ask this question as I picked up via Shapeway 2pairs of deck mounted hoist thingys and was dissappointed when they arrived yesterday, the they nearly 4mm to wide. Sadly I've thrown away the boxes and weathered my 3 salmons.
w124bob
Just been and measured, deck width is 30mm, crane foot width 34mm. It becomes obvious that both length and width are compromised just comparing the salmon with other wagons (Dapol grampus for instance) . Buffer centre line is out as a result as well, having oval buffers meant I didn't spot this either. I've no layout so didn't immediately put the salmons up against other wagons until now. Oh well back to Cambrian, now where did I put those kits.

Good luck getting ahold of them if you have to buy new ones. I waited five to six weeks for Eileens Emporium to complete my order of 4, with Alan Gibson wheels. Considering I ordered only 1 salmon back in December, i think this whole c*ck up has seen Cambrian raking it in.

RMweb Premium CloggyDog Posted March 2, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted March 2, 2021 (edited) The cranes do slightly overhang the deck, based on the photos on Paul Bartlett's site: https://paulbartlett.zenfolio.com/p737727572/h24cb414e I'll dig out my unbuilt Salmon and compare it to the dimensions on the weight diagram, but I don't recall the Cambrian kit being out by very much at all. Edit: Cambrian Salmon measures 31mm across the deck (over the outer face of the solebars) or 7' 9" in 4mm. BR weight diagram says 8' 1.75" overall width, though its not clear as to what that is, it could be the brake wheels or over the outer edge. So potentially the Cambrian could be just over 1mm underwidth? Edited March 2, 2021 by CloggyDog Added info

Moderators Popular Post AY Mod Posted March 19, 2021 Moderators Popular Post Share Posted March 19, 2021 Press release from Footplate. Flangeway Salmon Wagon – update – 19/03/21 Following an issue found in January regarding the Salmon wagon, we are now able to provide an update on the issue along with the remedy. Sadly, when the wagon arrived into stock, it quickly became apparent that the wagon had been produced some 25mm too short, therefore there was a noticeable difference between the wagon and the original drawings. It is unfortunate that the length of the wagon was not picked up by ourselves, our partner, Dapol and the factory, along with other parties who had the chance to view Engineering Prototypes along our production journey - we are all human and we do make mistakes! Although this has caused some pain, it is not insurmountable. We have adapted and overcome and are in the process of retooling the wagon to be of the prototypical length – this will be used with our new ASF bogie variants. We are grateful of our strong working relationship with Dapol which reaffirms our long-term commitment to work with them on future projects for years to come. We have to thank everyone who has stood by us also while we have worked to resolve this issue. We will therefore be in touch with customers who purchased the Salmon wagon in due course to offer a solution. Concurrent to the retooling of the wagon, we are also in tooling for the more modern ASF bogie. This will provide us with Salmon wagons stemming from the 1950’s through to the current day. An announcement will follow for the ASF bogie variants during the summer at which time we will open pre-orders for delivery later this year. 16 2 13
